I really really really like this gel! I think I have been using for almost five months and still get consistent results. Hair is not hard or stiff. The gel is a light blue and slippery. I usually lose a bit down the drain when I apply because it slides (slippery) so easily.

    I bought it at Sally's.

Elasta QP - Feels Like Silk Liquid Styling Gel

    Here are the ingredients:
    Purified Water
    Glycerine
    Polyquaternium-10
    PEG-75 Lanolin
    Pathenol
    Polysorbate-20
    Fragrance
    Imidazolidinly Urea
    DMDM Hydantoin
    FD&C Blue No.1 [C142090]

    Back of bottle:
Liquid styling gel is perfect for finger styling waves into chemically processed or men's texturized styles. Also great for creating soft waves and controlling frizz on children's hair. Provides natural shine and smoothness without product buildup.

I really like the Biolage knock-off @ Sally's. It's called Biotera. I can't stand feeling product in my hair and no matter how much I use, once I scrunch it out, I can't feel it at all. I've been using it for years and my hair is in great shape. Good luck to you!

Delma sorry to hear that your having "dry hair" woes :( .

I have used Elasta QP before but that stuff left my hair feeling gummy, and the scent is a bit overpowering in my opinion.

I don't know why most every drugstore gel makes my hair feel like straw too, but there's this new one on the market that I have seen at WalGreen's that might work for you. It's called Smooth N Shine Polishing Silk N Curl Styling Curl Activating Creme Gel.

Thanks SYB, It seems like I only have dry hair woes when I use drugstore gel , I'll keep and eye out for the gel you recomended

You will want to avoid gels with protein(too much protein drys out natural 4a/4b hair). You will also want to avoid products with triethanalomine.

I have been using Biotera and am going to switch to something else. I have been having a lot of build-up and my hair is looking greasy/producty. I am blaming the poly-4, which is the main ingredient in that gel.
I do love how it holds - it is very soft and minimal frizz. I absolutely h.ate gels that leave my hair crunchy or stiff, so I loved that part of this gel.

I am back on the search, though, for a soft, light, minimal frizz, non-producty gel! Like I'll be able to find something... :?

It seems I'm the only one on the board who loves it, but my favorite is La Bella Lots of Curls gel. It's pink and I can only seem to find it at Wally world.

Hmmm...I find the scent for the Feels Like Silk Gel to be very light. And I usually don't like scented products.

Well, Delma, you are just going to have to go to Sallys and sniff a bottle and report to us! :P

And the gummy feeling...hmmm....be sure not to use a lot. Although, I have applied a lot (by mistake) and not gotten a gummy feeling, but I only apply it to wet hair and then I "squeeze" out some of the water with a t-shirt towel.

    Keep us updated!

I love Naturelle styling gel from Sallys its with the Aura products Im not sure if its made by them or what it doesnt say. It does have the same lil design on it. My hair feels great after using it and no crunchie stiff feel to it. I dont have any frizz either when I use it but my hair is usually not frizzy in the winter any way

Yeah, my bottle of Aura gel actually says 'Naturelle' on it instead. I asked for the Aura gel and this was what she gave me, so I guess they've changed the name. Otherwise it looks exactly the same. I've only used mine once so far and so I don't know if I like it yet.

Naturelle is the maker of the Aura line, and I believe the products are called Naturelle in the UK. Maybe they are just changing the name.

Aura has a medium to firm hold -- more than Angell, say, but less than Biosilk Rock Hard. I actually get a pretty similar look to [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCare-Arc-AnGell-p-567.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacare-arc-angell]Arc Angell[/buylink] in my hair. It's a very watery thin gel. I like it in winter.

I just bought some Ion Curl Defining Creme for fine hair at Sally (under 5.00) and love it. I use some over my leave in, and it works well with my fine, thin hair, no crunch, or producty feeling.

I just tried the Aussie Volume Texturizing gel, and it rocks. I probably used a bunch but it is touchable with shine and it's maximum hold. (There's a mild crunch that easily scrunches out.) It also seems very curl enhancing. 4.99. Dries pretty fast too.

I was really liking the HE stuff especially Totally Twisted, but it just did not have any hold at all for me. I would end up having to use hairspray or something and then I got a sticky, bushy mess at the end of the day.

The Ion Curl Defining Creme does not have cones. I make sure that all that I buy is pretty much CG friendly. I even got second day hair from it the first time I used it, which never happens!!

Delma, are you open to health food store products? I just got a bottle of the Kiss My Face Upper Management gel that some other curlies like Brio and MedusaHair have been raving about. It doesn't have any cones. I'm gonnna give it a go next time I'm washing my hair and see what results I get. Hopefully as good as theirs! Anyway, I got it for $4.50 .
