Stay safe! I've been watching TV off and on for the last couple of hours and the damage in Springfield looks absolutely horrific. This weather has been unbelievable. I think xcptnl lives in the area, right? I hope you're doing OK.

I'm wondering about xcptnl too. MA is still getting pounded by severe weather. You would think it happened in CT with all the coverage they have been showing here. Hope everyone is okay!

I saw xcptnl on FB saying that there was a warning and that she was in her basement. This was a little over 20 minutes ago. If she doesn't update here, I'll let you know if she updates on FB.

Since Springfield was hit so hard, maybe the Hartford area was, too?

Deval Patrick is speaking right now. He's declared a state of emergency. It looks like there might be one fatality so far, in West Springfield.

Thank you for posting! Springfield is getting hit by another storm right now. Probably not a tornado, they say, but it looks pretty bad.

CT had a handful of strong storms but no tornados. The weathermen were watching that storm because it was right on the border. Fingers crossed for xcptnl. I am hearing faint rumbles in the distance but think we missed anything serious.

I am out of my basement. I have never been in a storm like that and I hate storms with a passion! Thanks for checking on me!! There are still storms around and tornado warnings up. I have coworkers in the really bad area (Springfield) but last I heard they were all ok as well. I am a bit freaked right now.

She replied to my FB post and is OK, but it was a scary storm!

Glad you are okay! The footage they are showing is incredible like in the midwest! And to happen during rush hour was awful.

Glad you're doing OK, xcptnl. I don't blame you for being shaken up. This has all been so scary and shocking.

xcptnl, I'm so glad you're ok!! We were watching the coverage on TV and wow, that was horrible. We only got some really booming thunder (that freaked the dog OUT), but not even a drop of rain.

The weather guys on our local channel were spazzing!

So strange. I'm in Boston, drove west to Worcester for my practice at 8:00. It was sunny when I got there, then it rained, then it cleared up and there were stars when I got out at 10:00. I never saw a thing.

Our company was bought several years ago by another company which is part of a bigger corporation. We have a plant in Joplin (which was not damaged though several employees lost everything) and corporate offices in Worcester, MA. I know things happen in 3's. Just hope the third one is not where I live.

Thanks for asking. They're all fine, but my mom said it took her five hours to get home from her office because trees were all over the road. A friend of mine from Springfield put some pictures up on Facebook. It's crazy.

I live in Worcester county. It was a bad storm in some places. I guess there were a few areas that were badly damaged, but for theist part, there was a lot of hoopla for nothing.

I grew up in Georgia, so I've been through plenty. My dad called to check on me and I'm all 'the sky is gray, and the wind is blowing - there's a lot if thunder and lightening...looks like an average storm to me!

We did not go in our basement. We watched Monsters Inc and then the girls went to bed.
