Nah, I'm just joking. Why not? I'm in. What would it be?

I am... Bill Bryson's "A Walk In the Woods". Its a good book but I need more. I feel like a caffeinated ant...I just can't sit still.

So more about this here challenge....it could just be your standard grow out challenge. No strict rules or anything. I hate being put into a box. Lets see. How about from now until year's end. Just post up a current pic, products, regimen, current length and style. And just update from time to time and let us know whats up with your hair. Maybe at least a weekly check-in. Is that doable?

Anyone else up for the challenge?

-Post current pic, length and intended regimen
    -Update progress weekly

Sorry if it's repetitive. I just have to do that to process things sometimes. I just got done shelving books so my brain's all mushy. :homework:

I'll do a Wet bunning for 4a's growth challenge, I always wanted to do this method for a long period of time.

Starting Length (measured at the ear) 12". Full APL, shooting for BSL in December (3 inches away and counting)

I want to wash once a week, unless buildup occurs.

    Deep condition with each wash

Alternate from conditioner only bunning with regular ole butter bunning

using satin scrunchi and a gel to secure

Oil on my ends and ponytail

Will spray my hair each morning before bunning and letting my hair rest after work in a satin bonnet, slightly moving the bun's position with each bun to releave and stress in that one area.

Enternally drinking more water and getting my veggies in.

Plan to take a pause for the cause on my Curly Anniversary (Sept 9th - will flat iron to flaunt my growth, lol) on my Bday (October, I want braids, hopefully) and for Christmas (plan on going for a Henna Red color)

The only set back "might" come in July when I am sceduled for another operation, the first op ALL my Hair fell out on the right side of my head.

I'm down! I'm currently at a little past shoulder length I wanna be apl by the end of the year. I know I can retain more length then that if I'm careful. Currently I'm in braids I may or may not keep that up for the summer. Winter I will definitely be in protective styles. I only wash when I need too and moisturize daily. Here's a pic of my current length.

Current Length: 4.5-6 inches (mas o menos)
Goal Length for this challenge: 2.5 inches for a grand total of 6-8.5 inches of kinks.
Regimen: I'm in box braids with extensions right now so my regimen is extremely simple. Spray/mist/moisturize/poo as needed.
Products: I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Enso Naturals. My package is on the way so I will be using them when they arrive.

The contents of said package includes:
    • Marshmallow & Moss Softening Serum
    • Cacao Curl Recovery Deep Treatment
    • Sweet Honey Hibiscus Leave-In Conditioner
    • Coconut Lemongrass Moisture Mist
    • Olive & Honey Hydrating Hair Butter
    • Milk & Honey Hydrating Buttercream
    • Aloe & Marshmallow Moisturizing Hair Milk
    • Sweet Agave Nectar & Flaxseed Daily Protective Mist
    • Blue Malva & Wildflower Honey Anti-Breakage Hair Lotion
    • Marshmallow Root Twisting Pudding
    • Sweet Honey & Olive Nourishing Pomade

I also have Qhemet's Heavy Cream on deck as well as the following Miss Jessie's products:
    Creme de la Creme
    Creme de la Curl
    Baby Butter Cream
    Curly Meringue
    Curly Pudding

**So basically I'll be experimenting with the above products.**

Additional Info: I will be taking my multi-vitamin and/or iron pill daily as prescribed by my doctor. Anemia sucks. I'm also going to try and give up soda and drink more water.

Oh, yay! Awesome! And yes, I work in a library during the overnight shift; I'm a student worker so I mainly do circulation/check ins and outs/shelving/the stuff no one else wants to do. That's cool that you have a master's in Library Science (I'm assuming that's what it is?). I'd love to go for that if I had enough money for grad school. :tongue6:

Anyways, as for my personal stats...
Current Length: Shoulder length straight, between ear and neck curly.
Goal Length (for challenge): Shoulder length curly (a stretch, but...wait, I just made a funny. LOL)
Regimen: *From Monday, June 6th until August 5th my hair will constantly be in braids, so I will wash and condition my hair once a week. I will also moisturize my scalp/braids with a spray leave-in and oils like tea tree/olive/jojoba. Near the end of June I will do an Aphogee protein treatment. I will probably get my hair rebraided every week if it's braids with my regular hair and every three weeks if it involves weave. I will deep condition with a deep conditioner involving protein in between braiding "sessions".

When my hair isn't in braids (From August 5th-December 31st) I will:
    1) Shampoo/condition my hair once a week.
    2) Deep condition my hair with a protein free conditioner once a week.
    3) Co-wash once a week (so my hair will be getting wet twice a week)
    4) Do Aphogee protein treatments once every two months.
    5) Keep my hair in protective styles Monday-Thursday, wear out Fri-Sun.
    6) DON'T TOUCH MY FREAKING HAIR unless I'm styling/doing it.

Uh...I think that's it for that...

Products: Garnier Fructis Pure Clean shampoo and conditioner, Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Conditioner, SheaMoisture's Raw Shea line, Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner, KCCC, (rarely) KKKT, and this list is subject to change because I have to find a better leave-in.

    Starting pic: 053101_235900-1.jpg

(Not as much as my hair as it could be, but it's my only recent photo :[)

Additional info: I take a daily multivitamin and drink an ishload of water. I also exercise A LOT (4-5 days a week).

    I'm here:)

I feel like my hair is shedding way too much. Is it true that sometimes different seasons can make your hair shed more? I feel like before the summer officially starts I shed a bunch and then grow a bunch.

Or maybe I just need a new comb or something...I don't even know. :angry1:

I'm going to have to agree with you. My wonderful hair is so seasonal it's ridiculous. Winter my hair is hybernating, doesn't grow more than 1/4" if that, no shedding or breakage unless I caused it by fussing with new products. Spring I can get about 1 inch a month. Summer shead city no matter what I do (so far) to stop it. Fall 1/4-1/2" growth, minor shedding. I can set a clock to my hair's seasonal cycle right now.

Hey all! So I'm rocking these box braids right now and loving the low maintenance. I did wash my scalp yesterday. I sprayed my scalp really well with cool water. Then in another spray bottle I mixed distilled vinegar(ran out of acv) and water and put a few drops of orange essential oil for smell. Sprayed that on my scalp liberally and rubbed. Then I used my water spray bottle to rinse really well. When I was finished I sprayed just my braids with my wen conditioner and water mix. I didn't wash my braids in the shower cuz I didn't wanna wait for my hair to dry plus I was being lazy.

    Pros:
All in all it turned out well it was my first time cleaning my hair like that. I liked it for the simple fact that it didn't disturb my braids to much so I don't have that much frizz going on. And I didn't wait very long for my hair to dry.

    Cons:
My hair is clean but I like the feeling of my hair being thoroughly clean I get when my hair is sopping wet.

NICE. I'll have to remember that when I get my hair braided.

Right now my hair's in twists. i really like them. Although my shoulder length hair shrank up to my ears...GRR! Lol

I'm in box braids myself. Been in them since May 15, so this is week 3 for me. I'm trying to go 8 weeks but we shall see. As for washing them, I'm one of those people that have to completely submerge their hair in water in order for it to feel clean so I'll just have to deal with the fuzzies. I'm dying to take these braids dow. I miss my fro so much. But I know as soon as I take them out, I'll be back to hating my hair again. We love to hate each other.

As for the shedding, I can't speak on that because I'm braided up but I'm hoping it skips me.

    I'm here too!

Current length: Almost 4 months since BC. I'm a little past ear length stretch on the sides, half way down my neck in the back and a little past my eye brows in the front

End of yr goal: At least to the end of my nose in the front, stretched. End of my neck in the back.

^^ I hope that makes sense lol

    Current Products:
*Suave Naturals Juicy Apple condish for co-wash
*Shampoo with SM Moisture Retention once a month
    *DC with Giovanni Deeper Moisture
*Moisturize with BRBC (maybe, gotta find what works for me)

Right now I'm just doing WnGs because two strand twists don't look very good on my hair yet. I just found out I'm low porosity so I'm trying to figure out a way to get my cuticle open long enough to moisturize.
