Rinsing/applying products upside down

I've always applied products and rinsed right side up, but lately I've been getting these weird supertiny waves that stick together and just really annoy me. So I figured, ok why dont i try rinsing and applying products upside down? So I tried that a little while ago, but when i flipped back up after applying my products, my hair kind of stuck to my scalp and it looked like i had earlobe length hair. The back was even more messed up, it got really stringy and had almost no definition. Now once it dried my hair looked like its normal length but the back looked really straight.
I tried doing this again today and it turned out the same.
What am I doing wrong? How do you rinse? Have you gotten a similar weird wave before?
Tia! :)

I rinse upside down, rake in products while still upside down and scrunch with microfiber towels, still upside down. Then I flip rightside up and add more product to my canopy, if needed, before plopping. Are you getting rid of any of the water while you're upside down? If I tried to flip back up with still soaking hair, I can imagine that it would be stuck to my scalp. Even with all the scrunching, my right side does a weird swoop up that I have to rearrange as the weight of the hair isn't enough to take care of it.

i'm experimenting with the whole upside down thing too... in the past i've done everything whilst upside down, so i'd wash and rinse upside down, then shake my head around a little to seperate the curls and then apply whatever styling lotion i was using to soaking wet hair, scrunch a little with a towel and diffuse almost all the way whilst still upside down and only when its nearly dry would i flip my hair back. The underneath curls would look kind of strange but the curls around the top and front of my head would totally make up for it, i'd get hair like Grace out of Will and Grace.. awesome height and big thick curls! i think the curls around the top / front loved not being disturbed. I haven't had the time or patience to do this for a little while!
fine 3b curls and spirals - first goal BSL!!

HG's - Body Shop Honey shampoo & conditioner and Shea Moisture leave-in condish which gives me lovely frizz-free bouncy curls. My PJ is calling me to experiment with gels again... argh!

    hi
i used to have the same problem. what i now do is scrunch in all my products upside down, then sort of turn so my hair is all on one side and scrunch, then to the other side and scrunch, then stand right side up and scrunch the back right to the roots. then i flip upside down again and scrunch more and plop.
    hope that makes sense!
