I've never used the loreal but I have extremely dark brown hair and I've used Garnier nutrisse with good results. I've never gone super light with my hair color, pretty much have stuck to warmer tones of my dark brown or reds so I am not sure how the light color would come out. Garnier didn't dry my hair out all that much and after a good conditioning my hair was back to normal. I swear, my curls actually enjoy the chemicals and conditioners in the Garnier dyeing products cause my hair is always so perky after I dye it. :)
