Flax Seed Gel & Travel

I love flax seed gel. My hair loves it. I make mine with no additives. The problem is that I will be going on a cruise and will not have access to a fridge. I've traveled with it before but after a few days out of the fridge, it has a rather unpleasant aroma.
Any ideas on an what I can add to make it last longer at room temp? I really don't want to use a commercial gel as a substitute for the week because it makes my scalp psoriasis worse. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Liquid Germall Plus or Optiphen are great to use and they are paraben free. I've personally used both.
I use Liquid Germall Plus at .5% or Optiphen at 1% of my formula.
To figure out exactly how much to use you will also need to have a scale.
