Styling Products with Jessicurl -- Know any good gels?????

So, I'm new to this whole curl thang, but hope someone can answer a quick question. In the last year or so, I've started "babying" my curly hair. I don't brush it any more and use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Hair-Cleansing-Cream-p-103.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-hair-cleansing-cream]Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Cream[/buylink] and Too Shea! They're awesome. My hair is much curlier and less frizzy. I love it!

Now, my problem. I'm still looking for a styling product. The [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Rockin-Ringlets-Styling-Potion-p-100.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-rockin-ringlets]JC Rockin' Ringlets[/buylink] is too thin for my hair and I end with frizz. If I use a traditional mousse like Tresemme, I feel like it gets weighted down with all the fun chemicals that don't really wash out. Does anyone have success with any sort of gel or mousse to provide hold and prevent frizz? A cheapo drugstore brand would be awesome, but I don't mind spending more for a good product.

Thanks! I've already learned so much from just lurking :)

Herbal Essences Set Me Up gel is a personal fave but others have had more success with the Totally Twisted gel.

I use a mix of Totally Twisted and Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray... over a combination of re-coil, Set it Free and sometimes [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Confident-Coils-Styling-Solution-p-116.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-confident-coils-styling-solution]Confident Coils[/buylink]...

Someday, I swear, I will figure out *2* products that work for me! :)

All of the Herbal Essence gels seem to go over good on this board. It really depends on how much hold you need. Some people find that the $1.00 LA sports and Suave gels work great too.

I like the Suave Anti-Frizz smoothing gel better then either of the Herbal Essence ones. I do use it over a [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Rockin-Ringlets-Styling-Potion-p-100.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-rockin-ringlets]Rockin' Ringlets[/buylink], but my hair is more wavy than curly. The RR helps with curl definition and the Suave gel "sets" it. For me, I find using a little bit of leave in conditioner first is the most significant factor in preventing frizz. I like Garnier Fructis curl and shine leave-in, but I think you can use a little of any conditioner.

My routine is wash w/ HCC, condition with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Aloeba-Daily-Conditioner-p-104.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-aloeba-daily-conditioner]aloeba[/buylink] only if I think I need it (about 2 times per week), put a pea-sized amount of the GF leave-in into soaking wet hair, follow with 1 and 1/2 puddles of RR, blot with a microfiber towel, put in Suave gel (don't skimp!). I diffuse for a minute upside down, then clip up the top for height, then diffuse for another 8-9 minutes. When my hair's completely dry, I scrunch it.

It took a lot of trial and error for me to settle on this routine. It may work for you, or it may not. I think each of us has to go through our own experimentation to figure out what will makes our hair happy:-)

I use Jessicurl conditioners exclusively, and I use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Gelebration-Spray-p-101.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-gelebration-spray]Gelebration[/buylink] under my styling products to boost the curl. Like many here, I get very good results with the Herbal Essences gels.

This winter, I've been using RR as a curl enhancer. I use Aveda Brilliant Retexturizing Gel or [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCare-Arc-AnGell-p-567.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacare-arc-angell]Deva Arc Angell[/buylink] over it. They aren't the cheapest gels, but for me they both last a long time.

I didn't like any of the new HE gels, but that's just my personal opinion. Though I haven't tried RR yet, I had lots of luck when I mixed CK with the Suave Professionals Volumizing mousse (the PM knockoff).
