MAC Raizin is a great blush for WOC too, but it's a bit too dark for me! So I have to apply lightly. I do love MAC Eversun too. It's very nice :)

My go-to blush is MAC's Format. I've been using it for years, gives a nice natural glow for my skintone.

I've never tried Format! I plan to go to MAC to buy Twig since my Nyx melted/broke off (I was just trying to find a new color...)

To the OP, this is my face with FULL makeup. Click.

I'm wearing more foundation than I usually wear and I'm wearing cheap eyeliner since my other one dried out. Going to buy some Fluidline Blacktrack soon though!

    I'm wearing:
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation SPF15(applied heavier for self-portrait)
MAC concealer (BTW, I'm an NC but my concealer is a NW).
Nyx B52 (that broke! Off to buy Twig...)
    IDK what eyeliner
    MAC Eversun Blush
Colossal Volum mascara, but it's old :S
    Brown eyeshadow for eyebrows

I do really love Eversun. It's very subtle and girly on me I think. Kinda of that blushing look. Anyway...

I'm one who prefer bronzer too. Since I prefer not to have foundation, I use some sort of transulent powder most of the time.

    I wear:

MAC powdered bronzer in "Golden Bronze"
    Stila All Over Shimmer #3
Bare Essentials Tinted Mineral Veil (been my staple for years)

#2 I've done well with Zoya nail polishes with their Zoya Armor Top Coat over it. Before I polish, I make sure all oils are off my toe nails.

#3 I'm pretty consistent with my routine though I do give myself a rest day or even a part of a week once in a while. I do HIIT cardio and weight training most days of the week. I also do a lot of stretching. I would love to add Yoga to the mix too, but I would need more time for that. My diet is pretty low-carb, high veggie, no processed food, lots of water, good fats, etc.

Not because I sell it, but Avon's Glimmerstick black eyeliner, waterproof, my HG! Long before I was even selling Avon. It's retractable and goes on smooth, no sharpening. Sorry, but I love Avon/mark products, that's why I even began selling it, lol. I'm my own best customer, lmao!

So I went to Sephora last night, to do an exchange and to look for more deeper color foundations for WOC. First I noticed they changed the freaking layout in the one I go to and I hate that, I like being consistent, so I knew I had to hurry because an anxiety attack was forming.

I checked out Benfits, Ummm, no. I looked at NARS, mmehhhhh, the selection was ok but wasn't impressed and I was before, their deeper shades were gone. I looked at MAKEUP FOREVER, didn't see any nice deep colors. Then I saw a male makeup artist trying on stuff and I was like YES! I learn more from the guy MUA than the women, he had to get on his freaking knees to pull the deeper colors out of the bottom and the back of the display. Yeah I was really upset by that. He told me that not too many WOC come in looking for foundation and that since MAC was in the same mall that's where most WOC shop for foundation. I understood the philosophy but was really upset by this. I looked around the store and saw a Hispanic MUA, and 2 other Black MUA, along with the male Black MUA and was still amazed by what he was telling me. I pretty but just grabbed two random glosses, did my exchange, and headed out. I had a babysitter and this was my night to go do what I wanted and play with makeup. I was so pissed that I had to just leave the store.

I went down to the MAC counter and saw my hommie Erica, we use to work together at a different MAC counter. I told her what had happened and what I noticed over at Sephora and she wasn't surprised. Mind you that I worked at that Sephora for 3 months when they first opened, they tried to push me to be the head of perfumes and I wasn't feeling it so I left. She said that yeah, most of the WOC come here to us and we get more of the business because whoever is putting the WOC stuff on display over at Sephora is losing out. I was still a little taken back. All I can think of is maybe it's because of demographics, this mall is near the beach, but still. I went to Sephora in Vegas and Beverly Hills and saw darker shades offered before. Maybe becasue I do most of my shopping online and not at the store is why I'm a lil late seeing the darker shades being excluded in store...

Now what I am going to do is head to Santa Monica, another Beach City Store and see what's up over there. I'm going to Lush this weekend anyway and I will just stop at that Sephora and see if this is going on there too.

Sooo, is Sephora leaving out darker shades on purpose or are the losing sales because the darker shades aren't prominently displayed? O_o

I don't really know. Maybe it's just that one store that's doing it. I will have to look into it.
I have a friend that works at Sephora too so I'm going to have to ask her her thoughts and see if she has any inside info.

I know Sephora is a Louis Vutton owned company and is made to be a boutique. They don't cater to the Art of Makeup, where as Mac and Makeup Forever does. They are still building and trying out new things/comapnies. But I don't think they are about the Art or creative experssion through makeup.

So I can't say anything for sure yet until I know more. Just my observation at that one store was a lil dishearting. Going to start looking a lil more closley now when I go to these boutique style stores and also when I go to IMATS this June, I will see which brands have more options and where those richer colors are sold more. I get to askthese companies tons of questions face to face at IMATS so it's going to be at the top of my list.

These makeup stores need to understand that when they do things like this, it really turns off a lot of customers. Just like my experience with Clinique--I refuse to buy their products now because in this time and age, you're telling me you can't make dark tan foundation?! I wanted a specific foundation to battle dry skin and it was only for the lighter folks. Sets me off TBH! :protest:

There's only a 6% Black population in my city and the last time that I went to a Sephora, she put on the DARKEST foundation that she could find. Yea, OK. I am Black, but we all aren't the same shade! angry9:

I think that I'm so afraid of getting angry again, that I just stick to MAC; they've always been helpful anyway, so I never have any complaints.

That is true. They are owned by LVMH and I never thought of them as my go-to place for makeup. I do like that they carry NARS, and fun things to travel with, but they are the place to go for me - especially for skincare. I worked for corporate at one time (located in SF) and I think the issue with formula color, brands, etc is regional. If you went to the main flagship store in San Francisco or NYC, you would not have an issue. The smaller stores where I live now are troublesome for me which is why I'm forced to stick to shopping at sephora.com instead of in the stores.

I don't wear makeup often bc of my acne, but i use MAC exclusively for my foundation (skin finish) for winter and mineral makeup for summer. I almost always do my eyes, and my palettes come from MAC, NYX, or Urban decay. Occasionally I will have a drugstore adventure if I see a cute shade. I'm a lip gloss/tint girl over lipstick the majority of the time, but if I'm doing lipstick, matte finishes are best.

I'm surprised that some are saying that they cannot find WOC friendly shades with Clinique and Sephora. In my area, I don't ever really have a problem with this. I haven't bought makeup in a while so maybe its a new thing....

Mineral makeup can sometimes be even harder to match up, especially dealing with these smaller companies. There's so many of them, it reminds me of all these small time hair care lines coming out.

I wholeheartedly agree with montREALlady when she said that you have to be a makeup junkie in order to find what works sometimes!

I don't do foundation cause I can never find something that matches me so I do blush and bronzer and I love the result.

Essie is good, I find that the newer colors REALLY last. The trick is to use a base, I love OPI nail envy and I do two coats. I do OPI topcoat which I loved more than the sally hansen one.

I'm also down 12 pounds and 3 inches off my waist! I've given up a LOT of sugar, stayed away from meat, tried to do vegan/vegetarian meals most of the time.

If I do have a sweet or am planning a trip to starbucks on my day off then I won't have anything else sweet for the whole week.

Soda is too sweet for me now, cause I've been drinking either water, green tea or this DELISH aloe vera drink called alo. I like the pomegranate one.

I got my ass up and moving too lol. I go for walks on my breaks at work, ride my bike on my day off, alternate crunches and push ups with stuff with my dumb bells everyday.

The trick is to go little by little. When you start seeing results then it's more of a motivation.

I think it's interesting that so many of disappointed with Sephora. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sephora. I only use baremineral makeup on my face. I use all the different brushes to get different coverage. I've been using it since 2007 and since then Bare minerals has come out with sooo many shades for women of color. At the time, the colors in the starter kit didn't really do it for me, but since then I have found my exact shade and love it. I'm a dark skin woman and I used to use NW40/45 from MAC, if that makes it clear.

Sephora never disappoints, Mac foundations break me out.

Make-up: I am a former Mac Girl. Then, my Dear Mother gave me Bare Minerals as a Christmas present back in 2008. I like the light-weight texture, and the natural appearance. I was color-matched at the Bare Escentuals boutique. So, I think that to have a personal make-up session with a trained make-up artist is the best way to go.

Nails: Unfortunately, unless one has beautiful, natural nails, sans polish, they really need to be polished if one is going to wear sandals, etc. during the summer. I get professional manis and pedis. My nail tech uses OPI and Essie polishes, and different base and top coat products, depending on the needs of my nails at the time.

Exercise: The best exercise for me is walking, and particularly on a treadmill. I find that I get the quickest fat/calorie burn in 35 minutes, and can workout regardless of the weather.
Your hair is your most important accessory.

    Well,

Walgreens has CG on sale so I got foundation, eyeshadow, mascara, and concealer for $19. I figured I play with some cheap stuff to keep me entertained until I go to the mall to get shade-matched for the pricey stuff. :)

I'm MAC NW45 too, it's a popular color. LOVE BareMinerals, I used to belong to their club where they would automatically ship me my stuff. But that got overwhelming, they were coming in faster than I could use them, lol. I've been experimenting lately, but I discovered a full BM foundation the other day in my stash and nearly did a cartwheel.

I've never tried make up because of my acne but I have been thinking about mineral make up lately. I'm learning a lot reading everyone's comments. I really want to get in to wearing eye shadow but I don't know were to start. Right now all I wear are glosses mostly MAC. I love shine.

I've recently got in to wearing polish again and doing my own manis & pedis. If you Google nail stamping you can do some cute professional looking nails at home and it's easy. I always get complements on them. I mostly wear essie and Zoya. I like OPI and China Glaze too. Definitely check out Zoya's FB page they do lots of giveaways and good promos. I just got my Earth Day order today which was half off each bottle. I get the most wear out of Zoya (at least a week if I didn't take my polish off on hair wash day it'll go a little longer) you usually only need 2 coats I use essie feed me base coat, Seche Vite top coat, and essie's good to go top coat on my toes (it peels when I use it on my fingers) but it's super shiny if you like that. Also painting the tips/top of the nail extends wear too.

You can tell this is a new obsession of mines.

Oh yeah @ Rite Aid all polishes are BOGO 1/2 off.

Make-up wise, I use Meow Cosmetics for foundation and their eye-shadows. I may buy their bronzer during their next sale. Before that I used drugstore makeup, mostly Maybelline, Revlon, Max Factor mascara, CG, and Physician's Formula. I still use PF's mascara.

Nails, I have a bunch of different ones, Avon mostly. I don't do my fingernails much anymore, but I do paint my toes.

Exercise right now, I just walk around the block a couple of times in the morning. I'm going to try and do other exercise during the week but I haven't decided what kind. Used to do Pilates a lot but I'm starting to get a little bored with it. Probably should get some new dvds or something.
