I know that everyone has variance in the amount of textures in their hair, but do any of you guys have areas that simply do not curl or clump?
I have a section that is front and center and doesn't/won't curl. Whether it's sopping wet or loaded with product, the rest of my hair will clump together reasonably, but it just wont do anything. It has all the texture of the rest of my hair but none of the curl. It basically looks like the rest of my hair if I were to pick it out into an afro. It's just a giant patch of frizz and there is no amount or combination of products that will make it look decent...and it just HAS to be in the very front of my hair, smack-dab in the middle:angry5:

My question is: Is anyone else experiencing this? Or am I just weird:confused:

    Here's a thread.

I have that but in a different section. Using my homemade clay wash helps it a lot though. The other day it went back straight again, and I was SHOCKED because I thought I had gotten rid of it. I think it was overconditioned because right before I hopped in the shower I did a super rich prepoo and tried to cowash it out LOL. I used the clay to cleanse and the texture came back. Of course not AS curly as the rest, but at least it doesn't look like it's relaxed like it WAS looking.

Actually I am someone that has a similar issue that gets worse as my hair gets longer. I have a wavy, loose area in my crown that doesn't really curl and shrink up like my other textures. Its been like this since I did my big chop, but now its so obvious and I cant really wear wash n goes unless I scrunch the area a lot. Sometimes scrunching doesn't even work.

I tend to be jealous of naturals that have a more "even" texture. Well sometimes...

^^ You know, mine is the crown too, and whenever I've done searches on the topic I frequently read women saying it's in their crown. There's something going on in that area of the head I swear lol One day I'll have the answer.

Thank you for the link to that thread Lanisha! I was thinking that I was alone!!!

I have actually considered cutting my hair shorter again because the section is so annoying sometimes. Sometimes it wants to blend, other times it doesn't. I don't understand this myself.

I have this rogue section at the crown of my hair that has no curl, wave, kink, nap - nothing! Its wiry and somewhat straight. Amla helps a little, but it comes back after about a week. The only thing I can do is keep it moisturized like crazy and maybe finger coil it when I wear my hair out.

I have the same issue in the crown area sometimes a denman brush works for a lil bit but what I've been doing lately is if my hair is not pulled back I do three strands twist at night and that helps.

My crown area curls but it is extremely coarse and most of the time a fuzzy ball , if its not....merely touching it will make sure it is .lol

Then I have a few rogue strands that is more wavy than curly .....but its ok

    Thanks for the link Lanisha!

My crown area is looser than the rest, but I don't really mind that because I never have a problem with it. The link posted above describes exactly what I'm talking about...for some reason it didn't occur to me to call it the "bang area" because that's exactly what it is. I see that some people rollerset this area to get it to match...I guess I'm going to have to do that.

Next question: Does everyone have this?

I have sections like these too. Have you straightened your hair lately? It might be heat damage. It's true that with even one flatironing session the hair can just lose its curl pattern. Heat does terrible things :sad3:

I know you're asking the OP, but for me, I haven't straightened my hair in 8++ years. All heat damage has been cut off by then. Sometimes hair can be that way. :disgust:

No this isn't heat damage, although I have had my fair share of it. This is actually something I noticed 2 years ago, before I had heat damage. Now that I've cut most of it (the heat damage) off it's just sitting in the front looking weird. If I'm remembering correctly, the very tip of this section will form a small bit of curl but from the root to the length its just afro-puff city. Hopefully as my hair gets longer it won't be as annoying
