Creamy stylers with good hold!

manemanmaneman Posts: 136Registered Users
This past winter I had great (looking) results with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding. I was easy to distribute through my thick hair with finger combing and looked great throughout the harsh NY winter. The only thing was that it made my scalp itch something terrible and caused a lot of build up. I've recently revisited Kinky Curly Custard with the Knot Today and I'm not getting the results I had when I had much shorter hair. It also seems hard to distribute the product as it doesn't smooth in as nicely as it did before. Does anyone have any recommendations for creamy stylers with great hold like Miss Jessie's? I am looking for something that's mostly natural (if not all natural) as I don't shampoo often. Any ideas would be very helpful! Also do tell what your experience was like with the product.

Thanks all! :afro:

@lolakinz...What has been your experience with the Donna Marie? Have you ever used any of the CURLS line? They sounds like they might be similar in formulation and CURLS really didn't work out for me. How did you find the hold?

+1 on the cj coffee coco curl cream.
I also get great results with MJ curly pudding and looked for alternatives. The CJ stuff is great and CURLS souffle isn't bad either. It just made my hair hard but I probably used too much.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lol let me know when you find something like that. i have been looking for the same exact thing. gels dont do much but leave my hair hard and i need something creamy, thick with a decent hold like aloe gel. please let me know bc i have been resistant to trying wash and gos because i havent found a product that would make my hair look and feel good enough to do so. and i need something more on the natural side also, little to no silicones bc my hair HATES build up, makes my head itch like i've caught something lol. THANKS TO EVERYONE, bc i really dont want to spend money on some of these products that are expensive and end up not working for me.:confused2:

Honestly the only cream styler that worked for me was Jane Carters Curl Defining Cream. I didnt need a leave in or anything.

Ah...to be a well pampered pootiecat. I can sleep on my owner's lap. Roll over on my back when I want my stomach rubbed. Purr with delight. Suddenly jump off and walk away for no reason. Not respond when I am called. Throw my leg up and lick with intense abandon. Sleep 85% of the time. Hang my head off the couch and view the world upside down.:laughing5:

I love Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie as a creamy styler. I use it mainly as a dry styler for braid outs and twist outs, but many have had success using it for wash-n-gos.
