Transitioning!!!! What hair type?

peakingdawpeakingdaw Posts: 8Registered Users
I have been transitioning for almost three months and I was wondering could one help me figure out what hair type I have?

Here is the link to the pictures: Pictures by peakingdawn - Photobucket

I could not get the pictures to load on here so I just left the link. Thanks in advance.

You won't be able to tell what hair type you have until you have trimmed all the chemically altered hair from your hair.

You won't be able to tell until later but look at pictures of when you were a child and ask your mom. From my mom's description I was a 4a. But, there are some areas in my head looser than a 4a. More of a 3c. I've only been transitioning for 5 months though. It's really just a waiting game. I try not to anticipate anything

They are coming in beautifully! You probably won't be able to tell what your curl pattern is for another couple of months, or until you cut off the chemical damaged ends.
For now, though, I'd say 3c, maybe even 3b. I'm no expert though. :)

They look like skinny spirals. I think that would be cute. I still struggle to figure mine out.

I have bangs now which I was thinking is my natural hair (I'm just about seven months post relaxer), but then at the roots of my bangs the curls seem tighter? But the rest of my hair seems to be growing in loose or wavy. So confused.

I didn't cut some hair off but by no means was it a big chop. My relaxed hair has stayed pretty curly for the last five years so it has been difficult to tell.

While this makes my transition easier, I hate that there's no cut and dry way to see my new texture.
Mostly relaxed, yet still curly hair, which I am going to try to grow out with daily conditioner rinses and a shampoo once or twice a week.

    Officially Transitioning since March 2011.
    Last Relaxer September 2010

Got some kind of curly bangs going here! And I think my bangs are all natural!

I think that my natural hair is somewhere between a 3b and a 3c, I hope it's not too soon to tell! :blob4:

    Hey everyone,

Im new to the board. I joined because im a bit lost on what im doing with my hair. Even before i let the relaxer go, i never did my own hair.
I stopped relaxing my hair because it was damaging and it never really straightened my mane anyway (such a waste of money)

I have been relaxer free for a year and plan on cutting my ends off soon. I see the pictures of the hair types and i get even more confused on where i fall in the mix. Any help and support you all have for me would be welcomed with open arms.

Ive found some products i like as far as conditioning and detangling..but thats as far as ive gotten...

The first pic is my hair without any porduct. the other two photos are after i conditioned and used a leave in.

It's hard to tell with the processed hair till in there . . since it appears wavy, but I'm sure it's probably not. You look like a 4a/3c mix, potentially. Only when the relaxed hair is gone will you be able to tell. But hair type isn't the most important thing for you to know about your hair, texture, prosity, density, etc. are more important when it comes to knowing what products to use for your hair.
