Product Advice

Hello All!! I am new to and I am anxious to read all of the great information. I have type 2B wavy hair. My hair is a little past my shoulders and I currently use TIGI Catwalk Curl Booster spray, but since it has been discontinued I am having a very hard time finding a good product. I have to diffuse my hair to bring out the curl, it is only slightly wavy when I air dry. I have tried creams and some mousse but it seems to make my hair either sticky or brittle. My hair doesn't respond well to the "just for curls" types of shampoos. My hair is thick and somewhat coarse. It is more curly in the front and sides and the back is kind of flat (any suggestions on that issue would be fantastic too:smile:). I am in dire need of a new prodect and your suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

My hair is rather soft and fine but the mousse I use is an alcohol-free one from's a really good product but you just have to be careful not to use too much!! I was using HETT gel for a bit but I decided to switch to something a bit stronger and just started La Bella Sports Gel. The HETT is pretty good though. Hope this helps!

If you haven't checked out the curly girl (CG) method yet, here is a link that explains it.
The College Curly: Laura Lee's All In One Guide to Going CG: Now Revised and Updated!
Most of the wavies use it or a modified version of it.
The "for curly hair" shampoos are loaded with silicones and also have harsh sulfates.. This is what is supposed to make them good for curly hair. The CG method avoids silicones and sulfates. So your instinctive dislike of "curly hair" shampoos may be right on target.

Like others have suggested, I think a hard hold gel would work for you. Wait until your hair is 100% dry and then scrunch out the crunch (SOTC).
