Outgrowing my bonnet!

manemanmaneman Posts: 136Registered Users
So I'm real close to outgrowing the bonnet I use at night and I'm wondering what else is out there that I could use. It already doesn't cover all my hair and sometimes slips off during the night. I already have a satin pillow case BUT my hair feels so much better after sleeping with a bonnet...any suggestions?

You could try twisting your hair at night so that it can fit better. Or you could sleep on a satin pillow case.

With all my hair, I usually have to twist it to get it under a bonnet. Otherwise, it would just fall out of my hair at night,

I've seen a few ladies on You Tube use a loc soc.

I had the same problem and had to find a bigger bonnet, that actually tied on to wear at night.

Cristina - Stay On - Stay On Satin Pocket Bonnet

It's worked for me as my hair continues to get bigger.

    Try this "pocket cap":

Cristina - Stay On - Stay On Satin Pocket Bonnet

I started using it when my hair got too big for a regular scarf. It ties on in the back, and I don't get my hair stuck in it like a scarf.

Sue Maesta Hoods are good too, and sometimes I just use a satin scarf tied loosely.

I use the Annie Satin Tie bonnet. It works well and its easy to adjust. Look in your local beauty supply, the ones in my area usually have several different bonnets to choose from.

I second the loc soc. It comes in fashionable designs and stays on during the night without any tension or marks around my head from ties or skinny elastic bands. Shipping was 50 cents for 1.

I agree with those who said to twist you hair first. You can also add a stocking cap like HairCrush on YouTube does.

I do several things. I will tie a scarf around my edges and then put the bonnet on the back of my hair. If it slips, you can try the bonnet on the back of your hair and then tie the scarf over the bonnet to secure it and to cover your edges.

I also stuff my hair in these: Satin Saks

That's why you twist or braid your hair; so that you can take them out if you desire the next day and not worry about helmet hair.

I got a "long hair bonnet" and twist or plait my hair at night. That's keeps it on. Although lately one or two of my random twists in the back will pop out in the middle of the night...GRR. :happy8:

I personally like the Loc Soc. For longer hair it seems to work very well holding the hair in place at least.. your ends will be sticking out if you have really long hair..but you could just tuck them under if you want.

I don't have the time/patience/desire to retwist every night. It takes about 30 minutes so ummm...no.

I tried to preserve a twist out by doing big, loose twists instead of the usual smedium and it was a fail. Lol my hair was crumpled up and bent at all kinds of awkward angles. Never again. I need something roomier than my bonnet. I could prolly get 5 day hair if didn't get so smooshed
