How do YOU seal in moisture(particularly on your ends)?

AuroraE95AuroraE95 Posts: 124Registered Users
Some people seal in moisture with a type of oil(such as coconut oil)
I've read that person seals with a cream or butter
Another uses oil a flat iron and foil paper

i just want to know different/best ways to do it?

I use Shea Moisture mist. It provides a light hold as well.

I use a shea butter mix to seal my ends. I don't seal the whole strand--too greasy. *shivers*

I think sealing is just topping off any leave in conditioner with an oil/butter of your choice.

I co wash my hair every Wednesday and Sunday and seal on those days using the baggie method:

    1. Co wash
    2. spray on my jane carter detangler
    3. slap on my shea mositure curl and shine smoothie
    4. Put my hair in four braids.
    5. Oil each braid with whichever of the many oils I use. Yesterday I oiled the braids with my coconut/sweet almond oil infused with nettle horsetail, hibiscus, and rosehip.
    6. put each braid in a plastic sandwich bag and close it off with a metal free hair elastic.
    7. Throw on a scarf and go to bed.
    8. Remove baggies in the morning and style as usual.

You can do all of this without the baggie, but apparently the baggie helps in length retention. We'll see

I spray my hair with a cocktail of water, leave in conditioner and aloe gel. I then put my sheabutter recipe all over. I do a two strand twist with natural flaxseed gel. My hair has been loving it! I think this routine will help anyone with dryhair problems.

I use a thick, rich moisturizer or conditioner on my ends after my leave-in. My ends love the deepr conditioning those provide. Lots of light oils that give my hair an even mix or moisture without the weight.

Now I'm using CJ Rehab or the BeautiCurls Leave-in. I've also used Mozeke Whipped Avocado cream and Afroveda Butters (which are really cremy moisturizers)
4a/b Texlaxed hair w/ highlights. Medium texture & high porosity.

use an oil on top of my leave in.. and a butter/buttery product on the very ends.
coconut oil softens and conditions my hair but isnt the most sealing, because it penetrates. I typically mix or layer it under another oil.

^^^ I thought about using this to seal my ends this summer. The ingredients look good. It's not CG but CG isn't everything. The only thing I can think of is that your hair wants more moisture than this Elasta product is giving you.

I don't have product recs because what works for one head of hair is different than what works for another (despite similarites in hair "type"). All I can say is practice trial and error as well as use a hair journal (Getting It Down On Paper: Keeping a Hair Journal Tips, Ideas & How to Get Started | Little Golden Lamb) to figure out what products and techniques work for you.

    Good luck! :)

Are you ladies using oil to seal before or after LI and stylers? In an attempt to get back to a healthy hair routine I recently started sealing with castor oil again. Ive been using it after my LI and gel on the ends if my hair. Would the oil be more beneficial if I applied ut before?

I made it! Tailbone length stretched, WL curly

Teri Laflesh's book "Curly Like Me" sits on my desk and everytime I get frustrated and an impulse tells me to shave my head, I look at it in hopes that one day my hair will graze the top of my butt.
