Has anyone ever tried or heard about Kera Smooth?

I was wondering if it's safe/good to use. Thanks. :)

I just wanted to post some results - I had the Kera Smooth treatment done 3 days ago, and I just washed and dried my hair for the first time since. I am so disappointed - my hair is still quite curly (but there does seem to be less frizz than usual).

I've had the Coppola Keratin treatment 2 times before, and that was so much better. My hair was straight with that treatment. What's up with this?

The only good thing about the Kera Smooth was that it was cheaper - $200, and it claims to be formaldehyde-free. (The Coppola cost me $300).

I am very disappointed, and I'll be sticking with the Coppola from now on.

Thanks for posting your experience anniemae. I used keratin cure last time which is also suppose to be formaldehyde free. The results were pretty much the same as the stronger keratins I have had. We will see if it lasts as long though.

    morningstar,

Did the Keratin Cure make your hair straight? Coppola always made my hair poker straight!! This Kera Smooth doesn't.

Anniemae- I have mostly 3B hair (some 3C in back), so my hair texture is alot different from yours. While I did not get poker straight hair from the keratin cure, I would imagine that you might. While my hair is straighter than I would like right now, I can see some of the wave coming back.
Do you plan to do it yourself at all or are you going to stick with Coppolla at the salon?

    morningstar,

My hair is curlier than ever!! I can't believe it. I should probably call the salon to complain, but I feel funny about it.

I've never done it myself. I'm kind of afraid to do that. What home-product do you use/recommend, if any?

I would stop in and let them look at your hair and ask if they expected the results. After spending that much money, I wouldn't worry about complaining.

If you can flat iron, you can pretty much do this yourself. I wouldn't worry too much about messing it and since you have had them done in the salon - you know the process. I have bought sample sizes on ebay. Have not tried any "true" home products - they are all salon keratin strengths. The new organix keratin is a home keratin treatment. I would wait a bit and see if some reviews come out for that and maybe consider that.

There are about 15 reviews of the organix treatment on Amazon. I just posted one on here. Good Luck!

Thanks, ladies, for the information about Organix!! I am going to read the reviews on amazon now.

BTW, I called the salon and told them that my hair is incredibly curly and frizzy. They told me that KeraSmooth is not a straightener, but it should eliminate frizz. Well, my hair is curlier and frizzier than before. They told me to wait a few days and call them back. :(

I guess I learned a good lesson....stick with what works best for you. Ugh..................

While the stylist I went to claimed that the treatment was the Coppola Keratin Treatment, I truly believe it was the KeraSmooth treatment. It was left on for about 20 min, rinsed out, and then my hair was dried and flat ironed. The Coppola Treatment is not rinsed out, and my treatment smelled kind of like perm solution (which I believe the KeraSmooth contains). So, I am not 100% sure that I had the KeraSmooth treatment, but it is a pretty big hunch.

I was not particularly happy with the results. My hair wasn't really much less frizzy or curly. It did seem to cut down on blowdrying time a bit, but that's about it. I kept feeling like I would notice the results, but I never did.

I just did the Organix Keratin Therapy, so I'm crossing my fingers that it will work much better. :)

    crystalbtrfly07,

That sounds like the Kera Smooth to me. That's what my stylist did to my hair. I had it done 9 days ago, and it didn't do anything to my hair except make it frizzier and curlier. What a ripoff. :(

Let us know how the Organix is. I hope you like it. :)

I definitely am going back to the Coppola...the Kerasmooth has my hair looking horrible. I've been using the Coppola for over 2 years, thought the kerasmooth would be easier for the process, but I'll take the temporary watery eyes over the results of the kerasmooth any day, very disappointed with Kerasmooth, my hair is dull and dry with this treatment...and lots of shedding/breakage

Yea, she did not give you the Coppola, she gave you the Kerasmooth...that perm smell does not go away, it's very annoying, with the Coppola, after the 72 hr wait, the smell is gone and your hair is nice and smooth. Try to look at the packaging for the product before you get the process done so you can be sure.

I have gotten the kerasmooth by bio ionic. Yes it smells like a perm. I have very thick bushy, curly hair. I loved it. My hair was half the thickness, soft, straight. Wash and go. Where before it would take over an hour to fix with flat iron.
And i could still make curls with culrling iron. The virgin/resistance level was what was used. Other brands that did not work were: The kerasmooth chem treated level, both levels of the chi brand.
