Patriotism made Gingrich commit adultery

"There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate," Gingrich said....

...The twice-divorced former U.S. House speaker has admitted he had an affair with Callista, a former congressional aide, while married to his second wife. It happened at the same time he was attacking President Bill Clinton for his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.":pukeright::pukeright:

What a joke he is. Hypocritical, pompous, bag of scummy wind.

I don't think he'll be able to spin the cheating into anything other than what it is. He's got no charisma to counteract it. Bill Clinton had charm and attraction. Gingrich is neither charming nor attractive.

If he was so busy working, how did he find time for an affair? Or two?
  • BekkaPooBekkaPoo Posts: 3,861Registered Users
He's definitely living up to his name: "newts are characterised by a frog-like body with four equal sized limbs and a distinct tail"..

He's spinning his way right into the white house though. I can see the fog of amnesia already rolling over the population..

No, no, bekkapoo! Newts as a species are better than this "person" Newt.

He's ruining it for newts everywhere.

Too bad his mama didn't name him Roachboy.

My problem is that I know people would *totally* vote for him, paint him as a saint, and forget all about the real (disgusting) person that he is and always will be. To hand a man like him power will just do more to ruin this country.

Well, I'd like to hope that people recognize him for the conniving cheater he is, but we won't know that until he actually runs for election.

You know me, b. I try to be optimistic about people having sense, but I'm not surprised when they don't. Sickened, sure. But not surprised.

p.s. How about this nickname: "mosquito man: sucking the blood out of the u.s.a."?

Ewww. Why do politicians appear to cheat so much?

P.S. I read the title as Patriotism made Grinch commit adultery

At least the Grinch had a dog, let alone a heart capable of melting.

You'll Lose Money and Buy a Load of Hooey ... Unless You Arm Yourself with Basic Information About How Your Brain Works → Washington's Blog

"I think we'd all like to believe that when people come across disconfirming evidence, what they tend to do is to update their opinions," said Andrew Perrin, an associate professor at UNC and another author of the study...

"The implications for how democracy works are quite profound, there's no question in my mind about that," Perrin said. "What it means is that we have to think about the emotional states in which citizens find themselves that then lead them to reason and deliberate in particular ways."
    **********************************

In essence this article explains why I have little to no faith in the ability of voters to do their duty properly. People get emotional, and the politicians will manipulate those emotions to their own ends.

Most people are followers, just acting on their own instincts, which are to be "part of the herd"-- we all do it in one way or another. So of course when you have someone pointing out the negatives or any alternative view to the prevailing one you get a LOT of backlash..

Remember ... "You are sleeping... you do not want to believe.."

Well not "you" specifically Ninj, but the general "you".

So say hello to our new prez. :hello2:

    The horror. The horror.

I'm really not worried about Gingrich becoming president. He's never been popular. His own party forced him to resign his Speakership and his congressional seat way back in 1998. He hasn't held elected office since then. He only "seems" popular, because he's a Fox News commentator who panders to the far-right religious extremists, who tend to get news coverage. Among regular mainstream Republicans, he's a loser.

And what's with his hair*, too? It looks kinda.....I don't know, like a long-suffering animal nesting on his skull.

He bugs the **** out of me.

*This refers to my thread about his current wife's horrible hair.

Don't you know, they make them (politicians) in a factory.. they come out with no spine and they're made of hard plastic. The hair is just part of the existing mold. :tongue1:
