Thinkin' about wigs

Okay. I have very thin, fragile 2A hair. I haven't used products with sulfates or -cones in years. However, I still have all sorts of problems...

1. Dandruff. My hair can be quite dry and fly-away, so I only wash it once every 3-4 days. Strangely, my dandruff seems to get worse as my head gets greasier, making me wonder if I actually have oily dandruff (as opposed to dry dandruff). Is it possible to have an oily scalp problem AND a dry hair problem simultaneously?

2. Thinning. I'm not going bald (yet) (thank god), but I remember as a teenager having a thick head of hair that I could abuse shamelessly with a hairbrush, knowing full well that I'd still have lots more hair to abuse. Now I don't use a hairbrush, I sleep on a satin pillowcase, I don't use rubber bands to pull my hair back, and I try to use organic shampoo & conditioner... but my hair is so fragile now that I can't even grow it very long (it just looks really thin and scraggly). I'm only 24, but it feels like totally different hair to me. Could this be related to the dandruff?

3. Chemical phobia. As I said, I'm an organics person... if the ingredients list has a few long words that I don't recognize as plant ingredients, I'm rushing off to and scaring myself out of using it. I have a similar problem with scented hair products... I recently tried to branch out from my normal Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose and instead use Desert Essence Apple & Ginger shampoo & conditioner, but couldn't handle the strong scent. I'd love to be able to make my own shampoo & conditioner, but I find the task really daunting.

I feel like I'm losing some kind of war with my scalp. What should I do? :-(

Have you had this dandruff diagnosed by a doctor? Sounds like you need some professional help in determining the problem.

Thinning can be caused by many things- stress, vitamin deficiency, anemia, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problem, autoimmune disease, etc.

Plant based ingredients does not mean a product is mild and gentle. Plant based products can be just as irritating and harsh as synthetic ingredients.
