Twice a year but that is because I am a lazy natural LOL

I used to flat iron it a lot and you are right my hair retained moisture better and at the time it seemed easier to manage.

Never. Not because I'm lazy (I spend waaay more time on my hair now than I did years ago when I regularly flat-ironed). I haven't had a press in 3 almost 4 years now. I hate the straight look and it makes my hair extra dry (I esp. hate not being able to get it damp in the shower).

Never. The last time I heat straightened was 2005. If I ever get around to wearing my hair straight again, it will be via roller set.
layer cake of tight, spongy and silky/thready S strands that kink more than they coil
spiced with a few spiral coils and non-curling waves
mostly medium and fine with a sprinkle of coarse strands
    protein is yummy

I don't do it because I don't like the look of straight hair, and since I have learned to take care of my natural hair in it's natural state, it is easy, for me. Constant direct heat is not healthy for your hair, no matter how good it looks or how soft it feels.

Rarely. Last time I did it was in November and I was curious to see how my hair looks, and I didn't really like it straight. So...I don't know when I'll do it again.

twice in the last 7 years. I don't love how it looks as much and I'm too lazy to wash condition blow dry and then flatiron. I might do it if I went to a salon, but time is an issue

Well, I'm glad you have good results, honey3!

I have a sedu flat iron and I haven't used it in 4 years because I just didn't like how dry my hair was afterwards... I am just now starting to do blowouts again. I plan on doing one every 6-8 wks. That curlaway product (which has grapeseed oil in it) plus a leave in conditioner seems to be all I need for doing a blowout, I guess. I'm not crazy about having straight hair, I do like for my hair to be more manageable though.

I've flat ironed twice in my 1.5 years of being natural. The first time I did it myself and used such low heat, it immediately reverted back so it was a failed attempt. Last month I let my stylist flat iron and I ended up with heat damage in the front and back. It was super cute the first 2 days, but I felt pretty ordinary after that. Just not worth it for me, so I probably won't do it again for some time.
