What MAC eyeshadows?

I'm getting into eyeshadow and I want to expand my tiny collection. I'm interested in MAC eyeshadows and I'm planning to get an empty palette and gradually fill it.
Problem is, I don't know where to start. There are so many colours and finishes. I do know that I'm after day time looks and, I think, fairly neutral colours.
I think I want mainly all-over lid colours. Reason being that I'm using gel liners and all that crease stuff confuses me. With highlight colours, they don't seem to do anything.

What are your recs for a MAC newbie? I'm really pale, mid-dark brown hair, dark blue eyes.

Thanks!

    i'll add:

Mulch - a great medium golden-brown that really brings out blue eyes, a bit darker than Soba

Mystery - nice dark brown to use as liner

Naked Lunch is one of my go-to shadows, but it is peachy in tone. if you want a neutral in a creamy shade, try Vanilla or Brule.

    Harmony is a blush.

Amber Lights is one of my favorite MAC shadows. It's a really pretty gold color that I think works on a variety of skin tones.

Thanks everyone! I think I might well get Mulch and Soba to start. I was thinking of getting Era too. I'm not sure about getting a highlighting colour as they don't seem to show up on me as I'm so pale. I wish I had a MAC counter near me so I could look properly. I will look closely at all the recs on here and thanks pedaheh for the links.
