How many hours a day do you read?

I LOVE to read and before I had kids, I used to spend HOURS reading. I'd have days when I would just spend the day reading, only stopping for bathroom breaks, showering and eating. Now, I'm lucky if I get an hour at the end of the day after the kids are in bed and I usually end up struggling to stay awake because I'm so darn tired. It takes me forever to finish a book. :(

    Hi,
    my name is Nikske, and I'm a bookaholic.

    I read at least 3 hours a day. I don't have children or TV, so I have the time. I finish at least 2 books a week. I know I'm addicted. I'll read anything, I'm indiscriminate, if someone took the time to put it to paper, I'll read it. I've been late for appointments because I had to finish chapters, refused to pick up the phone because I was deep into a book. If I could, I'd read even more. I can't stop, I don't want to stop.

    I LOVE reading, too, but I don't have much time! I'm a college student, so I think I read less than 1 hour a day. Usually before bed. Not that I spend much time reading text books either...

    But I do like to read a lot on the weekends. Or when I don't want to be doing homework!

    I used to be able to read 1 or 2 books a week. Even after I had kids! But after my divorce 3 years ago and my depression, I'm lucky if I can get through 6 books a year now. I just can't sit and concentrate that long anymore. The last year has gotten better and my TBR pile is just huge now. I think I can read more at work than at home. It's weird. I maybe read 15 minutes a day uninterupted.:sad:

    Not including work or school about 90 minutes a day. I do not watch tv so that frees up a lot of time :-).

    I'd say I read 2 hours a day. I review books, so sometimes I have deadlines to finish a book. On average I try to read 100 pages a day.

    I also LOVE to read but I feel like I have to time with friends, school, work and trying to squeeze in an extra hours of sleep. What are you reading right now? I'm reading invisible man by Ralph E ( both for school and pleasure ) and since I'm liking the book so much I think I'm going to read The Bluest Eyes next! Last books I read were Little Bee and A thousand Splendid Suns. I tried reading Enduring Love by Ian McEwan but found it kind of challenging ( English is not my native tongue). Can you name me the last books you've read?

    unless it's school books.... Never. Unless it's summer or christmas break. I do love reading. I love to read but I don't have much time, unless I set aside an hour or something. Which I've been thinking about doing...because I waste time on the computer, why not waste time on a book instead?

    I spent roughly 10 hours yesterday reading a book front to back yesterday :D I relish being able to do that if I want to.

    The last few months I haven't been able to get into anything - I can't concentrate. Im so glad for whatever reason, I was able to sit down and enjoy reading again.

    Most days, its usually a couple of hours in the bath lol.

    For fun? About an hour in bed before I fall asleep. I've found I have to do this to actually get to sleep.

    Me, too.

    I used to read tons more - like every lunch hour and then another two to three hours in the evening - but then I started this PhD program. Well, I still read for the same number of hours; it just isn't fun reading.

    My hour before bed is MINE, though - pleasure reading only, no homework reading!

    As a child, I could read all day. In fact, I often read 2 books at once and the longest it would take me to read a book was three days.

    Now that I have a job and other things going on in my life, I'm lucky if I have an hour before bedtime to read. And it often takes me over a week to finish a book.

    I ususally read two hours a day minimum. The best reading time for me is in the morning while I'm drying my hair. It's totally uninterrupted reading while upside down drying with my diffuser. I'm sure I look hilarious but the bathroom door is closed so no one to see me. :joker:

    Then I get 20 minutes to and from work on the bus and however long I can stay awake at night. I love to read.

    I spend too much time - so much so that I get little else done if I'm not careful! I don't have internet at home either, so that makes a difference.

    Love, love to read. Start getting panicky if I'm down to my last book or two and have to run out and stock up - no e-reader yet because I pass my books on to too many people.

    I used to read while diffusing upside down, too, but I was hanging off the edge of a bed.
    2C/3A/3B - modified CG - fairly fine now, normal/low porosity/normal elasticity

    Current Main Rotation: MG217 medicated or Aim2Health 'poos for scalp, Elucence cond., Spiral Solutions Protein & Deeply Decadent Cond., CJCCCC reg or lite,CJ Pattern Pusha,, Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz + lots more, sporadically

    HG Method: Super Soaker + Smasters-ing, brief upside down diffusing w/360o diffuser then clips/clamps & air dry. Newly gray - stopped my henna glosses!

    You girls, reading while you diffuse! That is fabulous!

    I usually take a little naplet while I diffuse - I don't ever really sleep (well...rarely do I sleep; I have fallen asleep with diffuser in hand, but only a couple times!) but I do close my eyes and totally go into that half-sleep zone!

    I read 2 to 3 hours a day. Mostly during my hour and a half commute to and from work. Thats only recreational reading though.

    If we count reading for school it would be a lot higher number. lol

    In truth I probably only diffuse for a total of 45 minutes but it's over the course of an hour - so I said an hour. It's an hour from the first scrunch out of the shower to the last scrunch of the crunch when it's all dry. I have to diffuse to 100% dry or I lose the curl in the front and crown. I'm 3A on most of my head but 2C on the crown and bang (fringe) area. It takes some work to get the 2C part to look like the rest and stay that way for the whole day.

    Ah I see - if I diffused until dry it would probably take an hour - I do about 15 minutes then can't take anymore lol!

    I think my parents would yell at me if I diffused any longer!

    I do well to make it 5 minutes most of the time, but that's just enough to get the curls going well. Unless I'm in a hurry, I'm fine to let it air dry from there most days. I often speed it up with the car heater on my long commute.

    I am trying to think of the last book I sat down to read from start to finish.. hmm.. Ishmael was the book, and it was probably two years ago! I do not read as much as I did when I was a kid, but now that I have an e-reader I'm about to go on a serious reading binge. I love this Nook thing!:love4:

    I think I've already downloaded about 30 books.. so far I have gotten most of them from www.manybooks.net and/or project Gutenberg.

    Im a college student so im constantly reading books but the last book i read for pleasure was during spring break and it was called the "Hauntings of America." Before that it was "Dracula" and "Dracula's Guest" over Christmas break. I really enjoyed all of them :)
    I usually read for an hour or two but i sometimes read during commercials while watching tv and i tend to get through a book quicker it seems, weird lol
