in my usual timely movie viewing, i was watching lord of the rings which was on TV tonight. this movie starts out in the shire, which is frodo's home. i could not help but notice that practically every adorable hobbit woman had curly hair..it was amazing. these ladies are shown early in the movie during bilbo's birthday party. how unusual it is to see a movie in which nobody straightens their hair! refreshing for sure....just speaking for the early part since i had to leave the movie--will go back to it later

Oh I know! I LOVE Rosie's hair (Sam's future wife)! Although I'm sure most of them are in wigs, I'm sure there was still hair straightening going on with the Elves. I think someone could look at this negatively and talk about how hair is being stereotyped here by person- the cute little redneck-like hobbits have curly hair, whereas the elegant, beautiful enlightened Elven people have straight hair, and the race of grungy men have (mostly, not all) waves, dwarves are seen as brutes so they have crazy fluffy curly hair, etc etc. I think it'd be silly to really believe that, but I think someone could make that point.

But honestly, those hobbits have some of the most beautiful curly hair I've ever seen in a film! My favorite though would have to be Eowyn's waves. I had a friend with hair like that in high school with no effort at all!
Wurly, fine, thin, moderately to heavily porous. Mod CG.

I think about that every time I watch those movies! I love their curly hair. Some of the other people switched back and forth between curly hair and straight, like Arwin, but when she wore her hair curly, I loved it. I don't think Liv Tyler's hair is naturally wavy, though, but I could be wrong.

Like Aislin said, I'm sure most of them wore wigs, but there were so many curls, it was crazy and unbelievable at the same time. :) I enjoyed seeing that many spirals and whirls in one movie.
Type 2c/3a with lots of hair and a super sensitive scalp! Med/slightly coarse texture, low porosity and elasticity.
