Seeking samples of:

Curl Junkie
Darcy Botanicals
Komaza

from caring curlies :)

I don’t really have anything to swap right now as Im just starting CG again - but I’m more than willing to pay for some samples, if anyone is willing to send me any. I could go bankrupt trying out everything lol!

I can do sample swaps of:
Kinky Curly Knot Today
Curl Junkie Daily Fix
Boots Curl Creme
Dr Organics Manuka Honey conditioner

Kathymack has samples of what you're seeking, they're all reasonably priced and in USD. The postage to England is very low and also in USD. Have purchased samples from her once or twice. Was not disappointed on either products or service. She also threw in some freebies which were great!

I saw she did a load - but I thought it might end up costing quite a bit in postage.

Im a little leery of custom charges too.

I have some samples coming but in the future - I will definitely see what Kathymack has :) Thank you!

Very true - customs charges can be a killer!

As a serious online shopper (everything from tampons to clothes/shoes) of US products into the UK, here is my two pence:

Purchases with declared value of £18 or less will accrue no charge

Gifts with declared value of £36 or less will accrue no charge

Enjoy the stuff you've got coming - I love getting new hair products to play with!

    Thanks for the tip!

But how do they know whether it is a purchase/gift and the amount - or does the seller have to declare it?

Makes sense - I got hit with custom charges when I did a £70 order once. :(

I love getting new products - the trouble is where to start and how to work out what si working/not working when using together lol!

The sellers has to declare if it is a purchase, gift, commercial sample, or OTHER. I love that 'other' category and the sender indicates the value of the item. Although if it is insured for a much higher value than is declared on the form that can set off red flags for customs. Basically anything coming in that's under £100 in insurance value will get passed through as long as the declared value (£18/£36) and category (purchase/gift) allow it to come in duty free.

I was hit with huge customs charges once and it was an absolute nightmare trying to get my money back from Inland Revenue in Coventry. Took approx. 8 month if you can believe that. After my many phone calls and faxes which I am sure came up to about 50% of my refund, I finally got my money back, minus the Parcelforce service charge. I HATE parcelforce.

Finding the right hair products always gives me a hard time. My low porosity means I can't really layer and high density means I could end up with a hair full of gunky product as I try to coat all of the hair. Sigh. It's a hard life ... :-)

Its good to know though - I was considering getting some Devacurl from amazon - but it was way to expensive for 4 bottles, and after this thread I figured it would get a large custom charge too. Not worth it. :)
