I just refuse..

I just refuse to be a product junkie, shelling out big cash for hair products. Seriously, life is hard enough. Of course, there are many times I just want to throw in the towel, or the t-shirt, but I refuse to be a product junkie. If I can't get it at Sally's or the drugstore forget it!

Does anyone else feel the same?

Though I have to admit that I did break down and buy the Jessiecurl products.

    <Hangs head in shame>

I didn't really like them though. I now use the LA Looks sporty blue gel.

Ah, yes ... I remember feeling that way once upon a time   . If you look in my bathroom cabinets, though, you'll see I wasn't able to follow through  !

I am so not a product junkie! I occasionally treat myself to a few new products but only every few months. My hair pretty much likes the same old stuff I always use anyway!

After trying a TON of different products this year, I've finally found that my hair loves Jessicurl.

I wish I had just gone ahead and ordered her products when I first came here. I thought they were too expensive...but if I added up all the money I've spent on umpteen other products, (that did not work) it would have been cheaper to just start and stay with Jessicurl. I am trying to figure out some cheaper backup alternatives so I don't have to use the products every day. I don't have the money to spend that much on hair products.

The only expensive thing I buy is putty for my bangs, a container of which lasts over a year. I just would rather spend my dough on other things. Once in a blue moon I try something like Elucence and if my hair likes it, I find a drugstore substitute. I did that with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Elucence-Moisture-Balancing-Conditioner-p-39.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=elucence-elucence-moisture-balancing-conditioner]Elucence MBC[/buylink] and VO5 Extra Body conditioner. I actually like the VO5 better, in fact, I love it.

I pretty much know what my hair likes, but I don't only use drugstore/Sally's products. I've found that all the best conditioners are only available to me online, and I'm fine with that. Also, my hair loves recoil, which I have to buy online. I see my hair as an important part of my appearance, but also as an accessory. When I don't like my hair, my mood changes accordingly. So I think investing in good hair products is no worse than buying good quality skincare or nice, comfortable clothes.

I consider myself lucky. My hair loves cheap stuff so I get most everything at the dollar stores. I do have 5 or 6 bottles of conditioner because I like switching up the different scents. And I treat myself to [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Confident-Coils-Styling-Solution-p-116.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-confident-coils-styling-solution]Jessicurl Confident Coils[/buylink] once in awhile. But most everything I buy is less than a dollar a bottle.

    Hi to you Kim :D

My son's school was just taking donations for local families in need. One of the requests was for "personal care products" so I donated three bags  of haircare stuff (either new or just used once). I was glad to have someone to give them to.

    Take care,

VO5 extra body, eh? My mom has this in her shower. Do you co-wash or shampoo before using it? What do you use for that wash step? Is the extra body's moisture level what makes it as good as elucence?

Needless to say, I am intrigued! :D

Ditto! I don't consider myself a PJ, however, I love to use quality products. My base is Devacurl and Jessicurl, but I love to treat myself every so often. I have bought a lot of the products from the swap board. 8)

    I'm glad I'm not alone! ;)

I might treat myself to something once in a while, too. Maybe for Christmas I might get myself some [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Too-Shea-Extra-Moisturizing-Conditioner-p-105.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-too-shea-extra-moisturizing-conditioner]Too Shea[/buylink], everyone seems to rave about it.

I got lucky and fell in love with the first thing i tried which was the Elucence products. Ive tried a few others.. Trader joes, activate and went through a few V05 CO's and have stuck with the Fresia one. All of which i can get at a place near me, including the Elucence.

I tried a few gels before I found the HE line. I still am tempted to try other gels but they will be local things.

The only thing i ordered was the the Jessicurl Awe inspiering (sp) spray for my mother but thats like once a year.

So for the moment the PJ is tamed 8)
