Well I am no expert and I am learning myself, but I would think it might help the conditioner absorb better. I have trouble getting my DC's to absorb. I either have to do it overnight, or with heat.

i have the same problem also but overnight DCing doesnt work for me & i dont have a dryer. I would jus put on a cap and leave it for hours but my hair still wouldnt be moisturized enough so I'm wondering if investing in a steamer would be better.

I :love4: my steamer! I listed it as one of my HGs in my siggy because I love my steamer so much.

I use my steamer to DC weekly, and during the summer when I do mostly W-n-Gs, I use my steamer for about 10 minutes after applying product to help my hair absorb them. Steaming reduces products from sitting atop of my hair.

did you find yourself needing to use less products after getting a steamer? Becuz i would like to be able to use one conditioner for DCing and leave in without feeling "coated".

I'm a minimalist by nature, so I may not be an accurate gauge. I still use two products most days, but I use less of said product when applying to my hair, so my products last longer by default. I always use only one conditioner for DC'ing. I rinse my DC conditioner out & apply my LI. I cannot leave my DC in as my hair is fine & will get weighed down. I suppose I could use a lighter conditioner as my DC as I do not have moisture issues & be done with it--never tried it, but will in hotter months.

Oops, I was being serious, but now I'm assuming it's just another word for a flat iron...? I've never heard that term used in my part of town. Thought it was some kind of deep conditioning treatment. :confused3: My baddd.

Hair steamers are actually a piece of equipment one would find at a salon. Looks like a hard bonnet dryer, that you add water and it provides steam. It helps with "treatments." Salon Hair Steamer - Sam's Club

A way to "steam" at home, without making and expensive purchase is to buy inexpensive terry hair turbans and plastic shower caps. Both are available at Sally's. Layers go as follows: put your treatment on your hair, shower cap, damp terry turban, shower cap. Then you sit under a hard bonnet dryer or use one of those microwave/plug in heat caps.
