When will it start??
I know some of you are going to think that I am crazy for asking this... When will I start getting symptoms of perimenopause? I am 43 years old and not showing any signs yet. As an early bloomer, I can't wait to see Aunt Flo pack her eggs and go.

Every person has a unique connection to the Creator that can never be extinguished, and every person has a great soul that can manifest important things in our world. To make a person feel less than they are because of something inside themselves, be it faith, race, or sexual orientation, is the greatest sin of all."
I'm 45 now. And since straightening out my thyroid, I haven't had the symptoms return. So, I'm curious to see how long it takes. I hope it isn't too soon, though! Those symptoms were AWFUL. :angryfire: Being cranky and on fire all the time is NOT my idea of a good time. LOL!

So either perimenopause or pre-peri-menopause, but a sign anyway.
I don't look forward to it, personally. I think that since we can live to 100, our first set of teeth should last at least 25 years before we get our adult teeth, or have multiple sets of teeth like a shark.....and we should start periods around 25 and end around 65 then be left with 35 years to raise those kids and see the first grandkids, stay healthy the whole time and die after we are 100. It's stupid that we end fertility halfway through. Not that I want more kids, I am all set with 4. Just that the timing is wrong for how long we live now.
Oh well. Maybe we will evolve to be different eventually.

I think the perimenopause for me started when I was in my mid 30s when I suddenly didn't have enough flow to use tampons. However, the last few years, I experienced tremendously heavy flow which I think was a combination of perimenopause and being on coumadin for about 6 months in 2006 due to a blood clot. (The flow was never the same after I was on the blood thinners even after I no longer had to take them).

I was on Armour for a few years until "the shortage". When it started becoming hard to get, he put me on compounded thyroid (it's strictly thyroid and acidophilus - no cellulose as a filler). Armour IS now readily available again. So, he put me back on that about a month ago. I haven't noticed any difference between the two.
I actually FELT a difference within 3 days of starting on Armour. I was floored by that. I wasn't expecting to feel better for a few weeks, not a few days. Amazing the difference between being on synthetics and being on natural.

I've been dealing with periods since I was 10 1/2 and I'm so done with them. Menopause can't come soon enough for me.
Last relaxer: Not sure. 3/08 or 4/08

Yeah for 2 years my doctors told me I was crazy and too young. (Until I found another doctor who actually believed me, that is.) Then I found out that my maternal Grandmother started having the same issues at 36 - she also had thyroid issues like me. SO... I believe you. I've been there. So, I totally understand.

I don't think you're crazy at all! I began having perimenopausal symptoms at 36. They came on real strong: flooding periods, night sweats, hot flashes, sleep disturbances. All of those symptoms with the exception of the flooding periods have subsided a great deal. I can't remember the last time I had a hot flash!
I'm almost 48 and I just don't see any signs yet that I am getting close to menopause. My periods are still regular, every 29 - 31 days, although they have shortened in duration. I'm actually looking forward to menopause and a new phase in life. It can't get here soon enough!!

10 years?! Please, no. One year sounds bad enough. I thought it started around 50 and was a few bad months. Guess I should buy a book and educate myself. Any suggestions for a book or website?
I'm 42. I don't think I have any major signs yet... though I'm sure my hormones have changed a little over the years. My periods are heavier and come a few days sooner. They are right on schedule. I'm always cold, so hot flashes don't sound bad. Well, they didn't, until a co-worker said, "It isn't like being hot, it's like burning from the inside out." Ack! That doesn't sound good. What are the first subtle changes that we're headed in that direction?

And her forum is here: Welcome to Minnie Pauz! • Index page
There's not only a lot of good info there, but also other women who are going through it all and/or have been going through it already.
And if you want a positive perspective on it, read some of Suzanne Somers' books on the subject. She's no dummy when it comes to bioidentical hormones. And there's a LOT to be said for them.

I'm 49 and this is the only change I've noticed. Spotting for a few days, then the real thing for a couple of days. Cycles tend to be shorter than they used to be, though they still vary wildly--25 days some months, 31 days another.
