What "Childish" Activities Do You Still Enjoy?

SpringcurlSpringcurl Posts: 8,002Registered Users
I still love coloring. I buy really nice coloring books and colored pencils and color in my down time.

Last week I went to Build A Bear (with a 3 year old friend) and I made myself a stuffed bunny with roller skates and a helmet and knee pads. I call her my Derby Bunny.

What childish activities do you still enjoy?

For Christmas I bought my brother a race car track. I spent more time with it then he did

I still like to play classic board games. A lot of people seem to think I am too old for that.

I still love to go sledding. Its my favorite activity in the winter!

Never! This year I bought 3 board games and they are all going to grad school with me :laughing8:

As for me, I get random moments when I want to play "Hop Scotch," "Red light, green light, 1, 2, 3" and "Mother May I?"
I ain't thirsty. There's plenty of fish in the sea, but I don't want all of them, can I have some standards? Or do we just have to settle, for someone's who meh and will do.

I still like cartoons and video games, and licking the batter off the spoon whenever I bake.

I, also like coloring. I love those huge boxes of crayons.

I like playing jacks. There's something about scooping up those jacks as the ball bounces. I'm in the process of teaching my grandchildren how to play.

Two of the best stress relievers ever! One great thing about having little kids is that you get to do childish things and no one thinks you're weird. I can color, play with dolls, blow bubbles, spin until I'm dizzy, etc. and people just think I'm a great mom...LOL

Blowing bubbles (I embarrass my kids regularly by doing that), and jumping on the trampoline.

I will always love animation. I actually don't consider animation to be for kids though, just that I know adults dismiss it as such. Yep, some of the greatest TV series are cartoons, so those people are just missing out. ;)

I love video games. Always will. Board games, card games, and jacks, too.

I also love to swing, though I haven't done it in a while.

    The bolded, plus:

Cartoons--good ones, of course. I recently found out Hey Arnold! is on DVD and I HAVE to get the entire series.

Drawing in the driveway with sidewalk chalk. My mother came home one day and I'd transformed the entire driveway into a butterfly garden. Luckily, it didn't rain for a few days so I could admire my work.

And I'm pretty sure there's more.

Swinging, slides, board games, sidewalk chalk, eating batters and doughs, blowing bubbles, play dough, coloring, building things with blocks, etc.

I love that Lilly is now at an age where she wants to actually play with the play dough instead of eating it and wants to build things instead of just knocking whatever I have done down.

Thanks for reminding me of blowing bubbles. Love to do that. We are all still children, at heart. I, also, still love play dough. I love the smell. I, also, still like to french braid the big barbie head. It's nice because she sits still until I'm finished. :toothy4:

I want to join the adult kickball league here. I may do that.

Also, I want to roller skate, play hide-and-seek on more time, and play one of those hand clapping games like Rockin' Robin or Miss Mary Mack.

You know, I never liked kickball as a kid, but watching Recess would always make me nostalgic for it.
I think it might be enjoyable as an adult. As a kid, there's so much pressure to be good, to not suck, to not be the dead weight. Kids really can be very mean about these types of games. As an adult, even if you do suck and the rest of the team doesn't want you, it just doesn't carry the weight it does when you're a kid. You're just so much more equipped to deal with it and in turn just enjoy yourself. So yeah, I could definitely see myself enjoying some kickball. :)

    I still like hopscotch.

On the flipside, there are a bunch of adult things I don't care for, drinking being the main one. Of course, certain adult activities I enjoy very much. :p

Absolutely to the bolded! It's such a marginalized artform, but there are some brilliant animated/anime series out there.

I love blowing bubbles as well. I have a big bottle sitting on my desk right now. I still have a few crayons but sadly I got rid of my coloring books. Been meaning to go get one.

Oh yes, coloring, bubble blowing, swinging! And the teeter totter!
    Hot wheels, race tracks, trains.
And I still miss sucking my thumb. Probably why I smoked for 40 years. : )

    Sesame Street

"Fairy Alphabet" --absolutely adore the music as well as the animation

    Weird numbers sequence

    1-20 raga

Anything having to do with Peanuts Comics, Archie Andrews, spinning tops, chalkboards, Captain Kangaroo, Looney Tunes, Fisher-Price Little People (the ones from the 70s)

I usually stop what I'm doing to watch Jack's Big Music Show.....I also like Little Bear and The Upside-Down Show. I like Yo Gabba Gabba b/c of DJ Lance and the guests (particularly Jack Black)..........but I don't care for any of those weird creatures except maybe the one-eyed bumpy orange one...

And I've been out sledding with the kids a lot within the past couple of weeks.

I wish I could find two other people who know how/like to double dutch, because that was one of my favorite things to do as a kid, and because it's a great workout I'd love to do it still.

I also like coloring and painting too.

I played kickball last summer. You know how grownups are supposed to be cooler about competition, skill, and etc.? They're not.

Sorry to be little miss raincloud.

    Hopscotch
    board games
    card games
    coloring
teeter totter (I was on one on Monday with my nephew and I on one side, and my pregnant sister on the other. It was so much fun!)
    swings
    monkey bars
licking the bowl/beaters clean of cake or brownie batter
magna doodle (nephew just got one. I had a BALL with it)
funny dances and faces in the mirror
playdough (I made a whole meal in florescent green this weekend: a cheesy quesadilla, a soda, pepperoni pizza, and a chili dog.8-))

I used to love the bar that you would sit on and fling yourself in circles around.... I got on one recently and got scared I'd hurt myself by flinging myself on the ground and not in circles.

I had really high hopes, but alas, it did not go as planned. One week there was this beastly athletic couple that showed up, and the huge tanned husband asked me to give up my spot playing second base so his tanned, blonde, straightened wife could have it, since "that's what she usually plays when we play softball". I was like, WTF? For the sake of peace I gave in, but crikey, people! Go back to your tanning beds and leave this curly untanned dork to miss the ball in peace.

I had to come home and eat Cheez-Its to recover.

bekka, I can double-dutch! Well, at least I used to be able to. Not sure my timing's as good as it used to be. :thumbleft:
