hair color and hair straightening

I am thinking about occasionally straightening my hair. What does straightening do, if anything, to colored hair? Will the heat take out the color? Will it make it fade faster? If anyone knows the answer please respond. Thanks.

We must take into account that anything we do to our hair that can potentially cause any damage to it will also make color fade faster. However, you can minimize that by using a moisturizing DT before the straightening and using a protein-rich one after (or at least 1-2x/month).

Straightening and dying my hair has damaged my long hair so bad that I now had broken hairs all along my hair line. I have so many of them they look like bangs. I stopped coloring 2 months ago and am going to get it chopped to my shoulders and am tossing out the falt iron. Be careful if your hair tends to get damaged easy I would only flat iron it once a week if that.
