I Want to dye with henna/indigo... How to Avoid drying effects?

Hello,

So the thing is that I would like to dye my hair in black but im scare of the chemical damage and I already have pretty dark hair but not enough (for me), I've been looking for a hair dye without peroxide or ammonium but its not that easy in France!.

As well I have done already 3 henna treatments, and each time I end with dry and brittle hair and I was thinking on stop it, buuut.... I would like to try doing the indigo, and from what I've read I have to do the henna first? ...

Do you have any advice on how to get a jet black with indigo without the drying effects?

Thank you.
