it looks like tiffany is ready to take orders for a hair anaylsis. the price is reasonable, $12.95 but you don't know how to gather your hair (altho she does state you won't have to cut off a chunk!) nor whether you can have products, etc. you receive an email detailing all of that after you pay.
so, i am waiting to hear from others who have gotten that email.

Once you've completely your payment, you receive a message and a document to fill out. It explains everything about where to take the hair and when and asks a couple of simple questions. It's easy. :)

    Just paid for mine!

You send your hair in. The message tells you where on your head to take hairs from. It ends up being about 16-20 strands. It does have to be clean of all products. The questions just ask if you color your hair, take prescription meds, etc.

I'm so glad I checked this thread! I'd been checking Tiffany's blog for updates ever since the initial announcement, but I hadn't thought to check the actual website. Just sent in my payment and washed my hair to get rid of product so I can put my samples in the mail tomorrow - I don't want to waste a single day!! :blob7:

Well that's probably one of the weirder things I've sent thru the mail but off it went! : )
My hairs looked so much thinner and straighter than they seem on my head.

I'm planning on doing it as well but I was hoping for a little clarification! Do you just [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-LowPoo-p-54.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-lowpoo]low-poo[/buylink] your hair or sulfate wash it?

Will I need a big envelope for it (need to print something out?) or will I be able to use a regular white envelope.

    Thank you!

Your hair (16 or so strands) goes in a ziploc bag with a signed sheet. A business size envelope should be fine.

You don't have to have a PayPal account - the payment is processed through PayPal's site, but you can use any credit or debit card.

As for the washing, the instructions weren't specific as far as what has to be used - but I think that depends on the products you typically use. I don't use non-water soluble cones, so I washed really well with CJ Daily Fix, rinsed extra, extra well, and didn't use any rinse-outs or leave-ins after. (On a side note, I'd been wondering what my hair would look like now, after 2 months off sufates and silicones, with no products in it. Now I know. Interesting!) If you do use cones, you'll have to wash with a stronger cleanser to get rid of residues, I'd think.

You're welcome! I totally cannot wait to get my results back - I've been so frustrated, trying to figure out my hair's properties and experimenting with products that I *think* might work. To have a definitive answer on texture and porosity will be amazing. Opening that e-mail with my results will be like getting an early Christmas present!

I also mailed mine in. I have a little Priority Mail kiosk in my office so I used that. I will track my hair until it arrives! haha!!

I hope that I got 16 strands. I removed it in the shower after washing and before conditioning. I had a paper towel out and ready, sitting on my tub and I stepped out long enough to place them on it to dry!
My hair is even finer than I thought when I look at individual strands!! It is dark but is barely visible in the bag. It also looks silky and straight!

This should be fun. I was careful to get hair from all sections of my head. Sure hope that I got enough.

Won't it be fun when we get our reports??

The form you have to send in says it will be e-mailed. Works for me, as I won't have to wait for the mail to get it to me!

I washed my hair, let it mostly dry, then plucked the 20 strands out of my head in front of the mirror. I have a variety of hair types on my head, I think - some look really thin, some look fairly substantial, some were mostly straight and only one was curled up into a little tiny spiral - and I tried to get as many different ones in the bag as possible. I really am looking forward to seeing what they have to say about it!

Looks like you guys mostly answered my next two dumb questions!! I see JJAC said she washed and plucked before conditioning, anyone else do the same? Did you guys pluck wet or dry hairs??

I just purchased the it today and plan on plucking those hairs tomorrow morning so I want to get it right!

I doubt it matters - the instructions didn't say anything about wet hair vs. dry hair, just that it has to be clean and as free of product as possible. I only did it dry because I thought it would be easier to grab onto individual hairs if they weren't all wet and clumped together. I also figured this would be a good opportunity to get a look at my Naked Hair (sans product), so I went for it in the evening when I knew I wasn't going anywhere. :toothy7:

I sent mine in yesterday, too. I'll be curious to see if the results I get are the same as I "guessed at." Since my hair is graying, I sent a mix of white and naturally blonde hair. They sure seem to have very different qualities. Should be interesting!

And now I can't access the information in order to print it (now that I'm at work where I can print). ??? I sent a message to them, but haven't heard back and it's been a full day since I did so. :(

I sent my off today. I have to say I could hardly see my hair. Amazing. And then none of it was curly. But what did surprise me was that my nape hair (which is straight no matter what) and my crown was much 'thicker' than my the other parts. My temple and front-FINE FINE FINE!

I keep imagining that I will get an email saying YOU ARE A CURLY IMPOSTER!!! Some of my hair was almost invisible.
