A new hello and a question

First I would like to say hello to everyone. I think this is a fantastic site and I wish it were around when I was younger and clueless about my hair. It would have saved me more tears than I care to remember. I have been blowing my hair out straight and flat ironing it every morning for years. A few weeks ago I decided to stop the insanity and let my hair fall as it may. I'm still trying to get the hang of it but so far I love it (and the boyfriend does too, which doesn't hurt  ) You ladies are awesome for rocking the curls and I wish I would have come to my senses sooner.

In any case, I'm hoping that someone can recommend a good hairdryer and diffuser. From what I've been reading lately I know that it is better to let my hair air dry but it's getting way too cold outside to do that. Do ionic hairdryers make a difference or is that all hype?

Thanks!! :D

Hi there and welcome to nc.com - it is fantastic and like you, I wish it had been around years ago! I always thought I was a straightie with lots of frizz   .

Some might push for the ionic dryers, but I have a plain jane blow dryer from Sally's Beauty Supply and a bowl diffuser from Walmart and it works fine for me. I'd venture to say most of the gals that use diffusers around here have ones you can get at Walmart or Target (i.e. - inexpensive!).

Mine is ionic and from Walmart. Ionic with ceramic on the end actually. I heard those dry faster. I can't tell the diff in the ceramic but the ionice is nice. I don't get split ends anymore from the dryer.
I think my last one was 20 bucks and this one was 60, and that's a splurge not what I would normally pay. They came with the bowl diffuser and have three heat and two blower settings.
Conair infiniti happens to be the name of this one I have.
    Low porosity, medium texture.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!

Thanks ladies! It's good to know that the less pricier ones work just as well.

For years i have been using a ionic dryer with a bowl diffuse , my old ionic dryer died so i bought a new dryer ( not ionic ) at Ulta , it was only $11.99 3 speed heat and 3 levels and it came with a bowl diffuser and another attachment. cant beat the price so i dealt with not having ionic with this price lol..actually i cant tell the diff wit this new dryer, my hair comes out just as curly, it drys quick and it doesnt frizz, i hear ionics only work for like 2 yrs .

My stylist swears by ionic dryers and she is a whiz with the diffuser, so I bow to her wisdom. I have a Vidal Sassoon dryer that cost under $25 and is ionic and ceramic. The diffuser it comes with is a nice design, and doesn't blow my hair around. I got it at Ulta but I saw it at Target also. It seems to work quite well.
