Jeans and Pockets

slinky1slinky1 BannedPosts: 1,612Banned Users
Is it me, or are they making the pockets of jeans larger and lower? So, if you have a small behind, it makes you look like you actually have nothing there...

Is anyone enjoying/hating this new trend?

I prefer them lower rather than higher. I don't care about the size as long as they are not extremely big or small. Pocket-free can look OK, if there are no pantylines.

The pockets should be nicely spaced and fully on your rear-end. I have noticed lately that i see more people wearing pants where the pocket is so low it's half on the rear, half on the back of the thigh, and that just looks awful. I have a pair of jeans I love when I've been working out regularly, but when I'm not working out my butt gets flat, and the pockets just seem waaaaaay to widely spaced. Personally, I think only about 0.01% of the population can actually look half-way decent in jeans with no pockets on the rear.

I agree that no pockets doesn't look good on most of the population.

    Agreed.

It also screams "look at me, look at me - I'm different! I don't have any pockets covering my butt!"

It just kind of bothers me. :P

Or maybe I'm just jellis that I can't pull of the no pocket look.

Yeah, what's up with that?! I think it looks weird that the pocket is half on the thigh. I was just noticing the sales ads were full of them. Looks like their butts are so big they can't pull the jeans up properly. Makes my booty look flat and saggy, and it's not! :P

Yes, I have DEFINATELY noticed this lately! I work for a clothing store, and we specialise in casual clothing, so we carry a ton of jeans, and in the last little while, there have been an explosion of jeans with pockets like this.
I don't mind them too much - I've got a rather generous rear end, so the pockets really don't sit that low, but I agree that if you don't have much booty to begin with they are not flattering in any way. We put a pair on our mannequin for display and they looked TERRIBLE - naturally, the mannequin has no butt to speak of. If they are low rise, too, they look bad, but I've got a pair that are mid rise (about an inch or so below the navel) and that fact coupled with my figure makes them look good.

    PS: way to go, Spiderlashes!

There are no pockets on this earth that could make my butt look flat! How does that work?????

It reminds me of the trend about 15-20 yrs ago where they put the pockets way up on the hip. Not a good look either.

Maybe it's an optical illusion. ;) To me, it looks like the pockets should be full with the butt in them, and when they are down the back of the thigh, it looks like the butt drops off to flat. Big butt above, dropping off to a flat bottom. :?

I have a big butt, as in my mom tells me I could balance things on it :P. I was told by a Black guy once that I had a "ghetto booty" but now I know after reading the "heated topic about white women" thread that he maybe just thought I was easy?

Anyhoo, pockets that are too high and too spaced/close to the sides can make my butt look flat from the back. Definitely not from the side, but from behind. I like lower pockets, slightly bigger, and I'm with ZARIA, I love having flaps on my pockets.

And no pockets makes my butt look strangly humongous, so I don't do those.

For me, this is awful. It is frustrating because when you try on the jeans, you're standing facing the mirror, and they look great. Then...you turn to the side and catch a glimpse of sagging fabric from the back. Then...you turn around and...GAH!!! It is like your butt got amputated...seriously. They are not feminine at all, but since they look good from the front, you think to yourself...can I just wear these with long sweaters?

The pockets on these new pants are literally half on my leg...at least. I'm really sick of this ugly clothes trend of late.

Hate the low pockets. I think they make everyone's butt look saggy.
I'm not fond of the no pocket look either.

Casual clothes do seem to be going through a really ugly stage right now. Too slutty or too baggy, the colors are weird, the patterns are weird, the sleeves are either too long or too short, most of the jeans look dirty or have freaky holes or beads or stuff on them. I'm not enjoying shopping too much. Hope spring brings some better looking clothes.
