Dry scalp?

Okay I`ve never really had issues with dry scalp, but since my BC I`ve noticed that my hair/ scalp is prone to more dryness and itchiness. I`ve never particularly needed to "grease" my scalp, but gosh I think I need to now. I can`t deal with the flakes and I`m not entirely sure what to do at this point. I already use grapeseed oil on my hair, but I never actually use it on my scalp (I try to avoid buildup that might prevent growth). I need help on what I can do about this . . .

I shampoo once a week (every Saturday) since I don`t want to encourage anymore dryness than I already deal with. I use either [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo-p-844.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Kinky-Curly-Come-Clean-Moisturizing-Shampoo]KC Come Clean[/buylink] or Trader Joe's Nourish Spa shampoo and I style with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]KCKT[/buylink] and then the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink].

Could any of those products maybe be the cause? My actual curls love those products, but my scalp is kicking me. Help. (<- literally).

Maybe I just need to try coconut oil on my scalp or something.

My scalp's been itchy lately and I realized that I haven't been cowashing enough. I stepped that up to every other day along with a brown sugar scrub and my scalp feels much better now!

Id definitely suggest scalp massages.. I know that Come Clean stripped the life out of my hair so it may be ok for yours but drying out your scalp. My scalp loves natural oils, dont be afraid of them. Go with the coconut oil idea.. the night before, or at least 30 minutes before you shampoo.. generously apply coconut oil to your hair and massage it into your scalp for a cpl minutes, then go about your regular routine and see if theres an improvement!

I read a recipe that called for 2 eggs mixed with 5 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. I put that in my hair tonight, then I used a sulfate, silicone free shampoo (I usually don't shampoo, but I didn't want a bunch of oil left behind). Afterward I did my deep conditioning as usual. I was worried the oil would be too much. It seems okay so far, I'll know more tomorrow. I did it because it was suggested for itchy scalp and even flakes. I don't have that many flakes, but my head has been driving me crazy itching!

leave-in: Garnier Sleek and Shine (new formula has no cones)
mousse: Samy Curl Activating (yes, it has one cone, the one that starts with a)

I was just researching/writing about this: science-y hair blog: Itchy Scalp - Some Easy Remedies

If it's dry/cold where you live, you might consider getting a humidifier for your bedroom and move it around to where you are in the house during the day. It doesn't fix the problem, but it does relieve some of the winter itch fest.
