For everyone on these forums-Thank you so much! I have been lurking here for months, spending hours upon hours looking at everyone's advice. I'm here to say I feel I have finally got the natural curls I have wanted since starting my transition in March 09.

I hope my picture comes through(I'm new to posting avatars!)
I have been through hell and back trying to get natural curls through transitioning slowly. I almost gave up in about the spring of 2010 and did a big chop, but I hung in there. I almost gave up, when I tried to dye my hair and messed it up so that it was damaged and orange, but I hung in there. I'm here to give encouragement to transitioners who do not want to BC and those who did-keep trying the things outlined on these boards, as well as Curly Nikki's blog, and you'll get it. I also searched and watched countless youtubes over the past year.
I feel so grateful, and so FREE, that I had to come on here to say thanks. I have achieved a wash and go AND a light brown/blonde color on my 3c ethnic hair all with organic products!

Here is what I have realized is my HG:
Aubrey Organics J.A.Y. shampoo(made my hair strong and even more curly, I think. Works well with color treated, dry hair)-I wash about once a week, cowash every third day or so.

I comb this through in the shower.

This was trial and error, and I almost took it back to Whole Foods, but again, patience won out and I can't live without it now.

The crunch/jerri curl look put me off until I read about "scrunching the crunch" out!
[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Gloss-Pomade-p-251.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-gloss-pomade]Kinky Curly Gloss pomade[/buylink], Coconut oil, and Shea butter-put a combo of this on my ends when I get out of shower.
For my color-I use Naturtint Honey Blonde from Vitamin shoppe. I love this color, and I didn't even need to bleach my dark brown hair to achieve it!

I am available for anyone who needs help and encouragement. You won't regret going natural!

i have 3a/3b hair that is about 5 inches past my shoulders when straight its over 2feet long tho i had it semi relaxed in april 2010 and now my hair is more 2c/3a ish on the canopy and elsewhere but in my bottom layer the longest part it is stick striaght
i think i look better with long hair but i am playing with the idea of cutting all of the relaxed ends off to make it colarbone length but im afraid it will look horrible i could also just deal with it and wait until the spring when it will be all grown out.....
~Imma Rock n Roll chick, baby. And I'm not afraid to say so~ :)
    3a/3b curls
    Co Wash: Suave Naturals Coconut
Conditioner: ..... still on the lookout for a great one
Stylers: KC Knot Today, AG recoil (sometimes), & LA looks Sport gel.

... yea, I sing, dance, act, run track, play field hockey, photograph, ......and what not... I am a busy bee<3

    XOXO - Claire :love5:

I hear you, TripleThreat. My hair was not that long, but I can tell you until I cut off those straight ends, I couldn't achieve the curl pattern I wanted. If your hair is that long, I'm sure it will grow back fast.
I got my ends cut at Great Clips, and then when it got to a point where my curls were defined, after I washed it, I could clearly see where my natural hair left off and the permed hair was at the end. I just got my own scissors and cut those ends off. I am so happy I did!
Now my ultimate style will be a chin length bob, so I have to wait for my hair to be one uniform length to do that. In the meantime, I rock headbands, pony's or right after washing, I can wear my hair all out.
    Good luck!
