flaky scalp because...?

Hi All,

I'd love your advice on this please. I've been doing the CG method for a couple of weeks now and used sulfate free shampoo for the first time today (I have been co-washing prior to this) and got a ton of flakes on my scalp after the shampooing. I need to use shampoo sometimes because I swim. What do I do?

And do you think I got a ton of flakes because shampoo of any kind is simply much more drying than a conditioner wash, and my scalp is now really shocked by the use of shampoo?

Thanks so much!

Well, if you are using conditioner on your scalp everyday, the flakes could be buildup that the shampoo loosened. Friction is really what cleans your scalp, so be sure to really massage/scrub your scalp with your fingertips and use conditioner on the length to detangle and moisturize.

You might also try a brown sugar scrub. Just add brown sugar to the conditioner you're going to co-wash with, and give yourself a great scalp massage.
