Uses for tea tree oil?

Hello all!

I am interested in purchasing some tea tree oil! My hair loves any product that includes it, but I'd like to experiment with pure tea tree oil in some homemade recipes.

What suggestions do you guys have? Any mists/treatments/skin care uses for tea tree oil that you swear by? Thanks!

I love to put toothpaste on my toothbrush then on top of that one drop of tea tree oil. If you brush before bed your breath will still be clean in the morning. Tastes awful, works great!

I use it for itchy scalp...I bought this that is already diluted with other oils, but you could certainly mix your own.

I also use tea tree EO in this natural deodorant recipe - fabulous!!!

I use TTO as an acne spot treatment.

When I have a canker sore, I apply some to the spot with a Q-tip. Does not taste good at all, but it heals quickly after that, so I deal.

I have read that TTO can be used to treat lice instead of the chemical-ish alternatives.

I've used tea tree oil in many ways. Here are a few :
    1) If I get an annoying pimple, I apply just a little drop.
    2) I add a few drops to my shampoo.
    3) For making deodorant.
    4) For keeping away mosquitoes. A few drops of tea tree oil in a room keeps them away.
    5) For making mouthwash.

Tea tree oil can also be used directly on warts. The wart will slowly shrink and eventually go away.

I have never heard of this. Intrigued, since DS had a wart frozen off a few years ago -- and I always have TTO in the house. Have you ever tried this?

Tea Tree Oil has TONS of uses. It's naturally anti-bacterial. I'm going to make me some homemade hand gel. I work in schools and it's common to wash hands AND use the purel stuff which just dries out my hands. I'm making my own with tea tree and aloe gel. May add some lavender to it as well to control the smell. I don't mind the smell of tea tree much though, it's just minty to me.

    You can use it on:
    Acne
    rashes
    wounds
    Piercings
    shampoos
    deodorants
    topical treatments for foot fungus
    any sort of deodorizing function

Just remember it's an essential oil so don't over do it. A few drops is all you need! It is one of the few essential oils that can be safely applied directly to the skin or internally.

Tea tree oil is amazing stuff!

    1. I put a few drops of tea tree oil in liquid castille soap along with some glycerin, aloe vera gel and jojoba oil and shampoo occasionally with it. It helps with the dandruff.

    2. I make my own toner by using mostly witch hazel, some aloe vera gel, a few drops each of tea tree, neem, lavender, chamomile, and vitamin E oils.

    3. Also to help prevent sinus infections, a chiropractor from India told me to put about 3-5 drops of tea tree oil in a bottle of saline nasal spray. I use it a couple times a day and it really helps!

I use a drop or two in my steam facials, and it's amazing on sunburns. It takes the redness away instantly. We also use it for practically everything else, but I didn't know about the toothpaste thing. I'll have to try that :D
