I do this because I'm growing out bangs, but it's not a necessity for the style to work: lift up a small section of hair in the front, comb it through, pull it back and slightly to the side, and fasten with a bobby pin. It's so simple it's barely a "style" (I'm not very creative in that area), but it pulls some hair away from the face and looks a little more polished than just wearing it all down. Not to mention keeping half-grown out bangs from falling in your eyes.

If you do a "google images" search on "curly hairstyles", you'll get pictures that ought to spark your imagination. I did that and saw a ton of ideas for using small braids, french braids, updos, half-dos, using accessories.

You can also just change the part. You'd be surprised how going from side to middle or middle to side gives a whole different feel to the look.

You can also use hairspray or mousse to volumize and give yourself a big hair day.

Or you can switch up how you style to get a different look.

You got any Flexi-8's? They make for a change.

You can straighten PART of your hair (like the crown, slighly with rollers to air dry) and leave the bottom curly and then fingercomb-blend them for a different look.

You can roller set your whole head for a completely different sort of curly bounce look (bigger or smaller curls depending on the roller size).

You can use the ragcurl method to get different retro spirals.

You can buy fake hair braids to use as a band.

You can buy a fake curly "fall" to add to your ponytail for a dramatic BIG curly ponytail.

You can tease lightly the canopy for a Brigitte Bardot bump...

    Thank you for this!!!

Can you tell me what a "fall" is as well as a Flexi-8?

    Thank you again ;)

A fall--and I'm used to using that term since I'm middle-aged and falls were popular in the sixties--is a piece of hair you clip on usually to the crown to create a "fall" of hair that is more voluminous than one's own hair. Women trying to emulate Jean Shrimpton and Brigitte Bardot resorted to this to get that rounded crown back and then sweep of hair down to the neck or beyond. They came in assorted sizes.

I hear the term less today, hear "extesions" more.

Flexi-8 are curly friendly hair clips in assorted styles and sizes. They have a sale on now. Look for the thread I started this week or google it. :D
