Keracare Natural Textures

yrh11yrh11 Registered Users Posts: 142
So apparently Keracare has a line for natural hair. Of course there is no ingredient list posted but the PJ in me is a little curious. I loved the line when I was a permie. I am more tempted to try this as opposed to the Design Essentials or Mizani.

I have not seen this in the BSS. Is anyone considering this line?

These look interesting, too bad they don't list the ingredients. I'm interested in these and Design Essential's new stuff.

My interested is piqued also. More ethnic haircare lines are jumping on the natural haircare bandwagon, but most still don't have a clue about the CG concept. Well..they probably do, but they are trying to keep products within a certain price range. As soon as I see an ingredient list, I'm thinking...what was the point of creating this separate product?

What is C13-14 Isoparaffin? I am not familiar with this ingredient. Me and Hair Milk usually do not get along so I will definitely scratch that one off my list.

    C13-14 Isoparaffin

    * An emollient

    Functions:
C13-14 Isoparaffin is a mixture of hydrocarbons (mineral oils) derived from petroleum, and is used in cosmetics and personal care products primarily as an emollient, and also considered a thickening agent or gelling ingredient (FaceProducts-Online). Little additional information is available regarding C13-14 Isoparaffin, and isoparaffins are simply defined as gelling or thickening agents; petroleum is a known moisturizer.

In all, its basically mineral oil. This info came from this link: http://truthinaging.com/ingredients/c13-14-isoparaffin

I'm not sure about the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Carols-Daughter-Hair-Milk-p-1032.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Carol's-Daughter-Hair-Milk]hair milk[/buylink], but I am interested in trying the other products. I wanted to hear other reviews before I go out on the limb and purchase them. I guess I will be patient. Lol.

Sounds very interesting. Wow, so many ayurvedic ingredients and ceramides. It seems as though these manufacturers are watching the hair boards formulating products we want to buy. I would try them.

These products are a couple of dollars cheaper here, than ordering from Keracare's direct website : http://paynesbeautysupply-salon.stores.yahoo.net/kenatefornah.html. I don't know how their customer service or shipping is though.

Ok, so I broke down and ordered a few of these products earlier this week. I knew it was coming today because I track my packages as usual. When I saw the mailman, I was excited so I met him halfway through my yard. He asked if today was my birthday, I was like nope, just was expecting this package. I'm pretty sure he thought I was "special" or something, but anyway, I got the cleansing cream, leave in conditioner, buttercream, and twist and define cream. All the products smell nice. It has a light clean smell if that makes any sense. My hair is two strand twisted so I I only tried the leave in and buttercream on one twist and I must say that the twist I tried it on is very soft and moisturized. It's a noticeable difference than what I used on my other twists.

The cleansing cream's texture sort of reminds me of the cholesterol treatments but runnier. The leave in's texture reminds me of [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]KC Knot today[/buylink], but way more moisturizing and makes the peice of hair I tried it on smoother. The buttercream was lighter than what I expected. It has a light, airy, creamy texture. I was expecting the texture of the twist and define cream to be more dense, creamy-like, but the consistency is like that of pudding.

I will see how they really work when I take these twists out in about a week or so.

They carry keracare though so im hoping theyll get this!

I tried this new one, pretty big.. called Pink Beauty Supply in LongBeach but theyre not as personal.. I wanted to exchange something I had not even opened and had a reciept for within 7 days & he took ten mins inspecting it before he gave me the okay.. cant mess with it!

Caris Co. is the distributer in Atlanta. I went to the store located in Stone Mountain. You would normally need a license to buy products there, but since this is a retail product they sold it to me at the retail price.

Eh, if I'm bored I might try some of the stuff but I'll wait for some more reviews.

I must say that I'm really impressed with this line. I have been using these products off and on for almost 2 months.

The cleansing cream is really moisturizing and doesn't leave the hair feeling stripped. I didn't have to use a conditioner afterwards and I ALWAYS use a conditioner after a shampoo. It lathers up really good and a little goes a very long way.

The leave in conditioner gives very good moisture for a leave in and it makes detangling my hair a breeze.

The butter cream is also a good moisturizer. My hair stays soft and moisturized throughout the week. The only thing I don't like about this is that it feels kind of waxy when you put this on wet/damp hair, but once it dries it doesn't feel waxy or producty. On dry hair, it soaks right in.

The twist and define has a good hold, but its a soft hold. It is also moisturizing and it is very detangling as well. I like that it is detangling for those times I like to comb the section of hair I'm about to twist to make it smoother. If you use too much of this, it will make your fingers sticky when you touch your hair. Probably the gylcerin content in this.

Overall, every product in this line that I tried leaves my hair smooth, moisturized, and soft to the touch. It makes my hair hair smooth from root to tip with very minimal frizz, but I've only tried this line for twists and twistouts, though. I do want to try the defining custard for a wash and go one day. I would repurchase again.

@Periwinkle: have you tried the butter cream on dry hair? you say here that it sinks right in, but how does it feel several hours later on dry hair? Does it provide hold?

Yes, I've tried it on dry hair also. It doesn't feel waxy going on when I apply it to dry hair as it does when I apply it on wet hair. It may just be my hair though because most butters and creams I put on wet hair feels waxy going on, but when my hair absorbs it, its feels soft and moisturized. The moisture lasts throughout the week for me. The hold is ok. I usually put the twist and define over this, but yesterday, I just used the butter cream over the leave in, and put it in chunky twists. When I let the twists out today, they were defined, but a fluffy defined, more natural looking, if that makes sense. Lol. I think that if you like fluffy twistouts, etc, this may work for that, but I usually like a little more hold so it can last throughout the week, so that is why I layer the twist and define over this. HTH.

I recently got two strand twists done and the stylist Nedjetti (PS she's great) and she used the Kercare twist and define. My hair was so shiny and pretty I will definitely be purchasing this product! I am a 4a and it has kept my hair shiny for a week so far without any other product. :love10:
