Vegetarian and protein treatments (PT)

Hell there, I'm not sure if this is the right part of our forum to ask this question, but I'm going to go ahead.
I've been an (ovo-lacto) vegetarian for roughly 3 years now and recently I started the CG method. It's amazing because a lot of the products are vegan and free of animal testing, so I am so happy I can stick with things I know and love!
But one thing that's got me wondering when I did a protein treatment on my hair (home-made as always) it reacted amazingly. I've read of all the horror stories out here about straw hair, but my hair LOVED it (from what I can tell). I have 3A curls, and a horrible canopy that has NEVER been curly, I can only coax a wave out of it. HOWEVER with the simple concoction of an Egg yolk, honey, and EVOO, and over-night plopping it was SO big, and soft, and just, bliss. I've been basking in it all day!
I've been wondering if this has anything to do with my diet, or is this just what my hair is like? Also, is it safe to do protein treatments weekly? Everybody that I've read about does them monthly.
ANY input would be appreciated!

You'll know if you are using too much. At that point, just add more moisture.
Forgot to add, as long as you are eating quality protein in other foods, your hair should be fine.

Hair is dead. Your diet is what helped form it when it was alive, but now it's just fiber that tends to degrade. Your hair must have really needed the boost of fats, proteins and sugars you "fed" it. How wonderful that it is also appropriate for your diet! (I'm a vegetarian too).
Why not try another in a week and see how much more bliss you can achieve? If you get weighed down, then you know you need to go every other week, or once a month.
Very happy for you!
Maybe I should look into those then. Do you order those online? I live in Canada, and would prefer something bought at a store (my pocket is only so big >< ) We do have several Sally's though.
Yea, it's just one I got after searching for Protein Treatments in the search bar above. A lot of people use Mayonnaise as well.
Yes, I've been wondering if my canopy just needs to be longer in length to find it's curl pattern, good thing I've been letting it grow out
Thank you both! Pretty much answered my question!
If you don't want to use an egg, try a banana. Its not as moisturizing, in my experience, but it works nicely.it does give great slip. I've added avocado for additional moisture, my hair loves it.
So I've blended up: a whole avocado, about 1/4 cup olive oil, about a tablespoon (give or take) of honey, and a few drops lavender oil. When I want to add protein, I throw in an egg or a banana if I have bananas, but usually an egg. If you want to go entirely vegan, the banana obviously is the way to go.
Aurel - the avocado may help your canopy. It really helped soften mine, and the curl pattern that emerged was really nice and defined. Probably the natural oils/fattiness of the avocado. And when you blend it with the olive oil and egg, it makes a really good paste.
Hope that helps! I LOVE making deep condish/protein treatments for my hair!
