Hair dry after first co-wash? Help!

JuneauJuneau Registered Users Posts: 8
First of all.. don't mind the mistakes in English in my posts, English isn't my mainlanguage!

Secondly, I've just started co-wash/cg/no-poo yesterday and washed my hair first with a siliconefree shampoo with sulfate to get rid of al the cones in my hair.

Then I washed it TWICE with Inecto coconut conditioner and left it a couple of minutes and washed it out (I still have to buy an other conditioner).

As leave-in I used the same inecto coco conditioner and a bit of nivea flexible curls creme.

The result is brilliant; I have more curls and much more volume. But the problem is, is that my hair ain't that soft.. in fact, it's superdry and very frizzy..

Is this just because my hair has to get used to this method and do I just have to be patient, or am I doing something wrong?

Plz help! :-)

If it makes you feel any better, your hair isn't any dryer today then it was yesterday. It is just that today you can "see" the dryness because it isn't masked by silicones.
I'm not familiar with the inecto conditioner. Most people need a light conditioner to cowash with and a more moisturizing one to use as a rinse out conditioner.
Do your know what your hair's properties are? Is your hair fine, medium or coarse (circumference of each individual strand)?

Do you know what the porosity is?

Depending on the answers, a protein treatment might help you get the moisture back into your hair.

I'm not 100% sure, but you may want to double check the Inecto for silicones. I don't think it is CG, but it's been a while since I checked their labels. Also, if your hair is coarse in texture, the protein from coconut might not be right for you. Or, like Ped said, you might just need more moisture.

In addition to the great answers above, I'd say the dryness is probably from the sulfate shampoo. It's a strong detergent, so it can take a while to build the moisture back up. Try a few DTs to bring your moisture levels back up. Good luck!
