I'm thinking about growing my hair to mid-back or longer; would this weigh down my curls/waves and make it straighter?
Some 2b in the back, mostly (using FIA) 2c/F/iii.

Fine hair, normal porosity, and normal elasticity.

I'm still new to this CG stuff, so ANY tips you could give me are appreciated. :)

Are you fine-haired or coarse haired? There is a picture in the Growing Out thread of when I had my hair superlong, and what happened was that the waves were stretched out but pretty consistent over the length.

It looks curlier now that it is shorter but I think that is more because of layers, not length per se.

So yes long hair can still be wavy. I'm guessing it depends on the 'strength' of the waves, not the diameter or pattern - my hair is not very curly but is extremely difficult to straighten.

I actually have more curls now that my hair is longer. I'm a few inches from waist and growing out layers. When my hair was shorter I never had spiral curls, just waves.

I actually get MORE curl the longer it gets but too long and they start getting very tight and skinny...almost dreadlock-like. Its more about balance. Currently my hair is waist-when-wet length and about an inch above bsl dry. My aim is tailbone length is I ever get there!!

My hair is mid-back length, and I have most often found that my hair has better curls with length. If you are worried about length weighing down the curls, you could try diffusing to avoid the extra water weight on the curls, or maybe try air-drying in stages. There was a time when I would put in my products and then use a bear clip to messily clip up my wet hair, then take down parts of it at a time. I no longer do that, but when I did it, I found it helped.

My hair will get weighed down and lose some of the curl if I wear it all one length when long (mid-back). I need some layers for it to look its best.
I can't say my hair gets curlier with length (the opposite is true, actually) but I like the curl better. My hair does strange things when it's short. Or, it could just be that every shorter cut I've ever had was a disaster, lol.

My curls get pulled out by the weight of my hair. My hair is curlier the shorter it is.
