AKA Lookie-What-I-Can-Do-With-Some-Good-Non-Cone-Products-And-A-Roundbrush

My job is such that versatility is good with my hair, and sometimes I have to get up before 4AM to get ready for work and drive an hour and a half or more to the store I'm going to be at. So there are days where a round brush is my friend. My hair takes a long time to diffuse dry, and about 1/2 the time to round brush. Today was one of those days (and tomorrow will be too).

I usually resort to cones on those days.....I just don't feel that I can get the smoothness I want without them. Since I'm modified it doesn't bother me, as it's only once in awhile. But today I wanted to give it a go with Non cone products and see if I could get the same look.

I washed with CJDFCC twice, then conditioned with a mix of H&BDT and [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Weekly-Deep-Conditioning-Treatment-p-106.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-weekly-deep-conditioner-treatment]JC WDT[/buylink]. Sprayed SS protein spray, then just let my hair air dry awhile. When I took my flour sack wrap down I applied some [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle-p-995.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curls-in-a-Bottle]CIAB[/buylink] and blow dried with my rake attatchment, then my round brush and a concentrator. It was looking a little frizzy on the ends, so I grabbed Deva Set up and above and smoothed with it. Then sprayed with my Mizani shine spray that's cone free.

VOILA!!!! FINALLY something cone free that works! Throughout the day it got even better, looked like I had used cones when I HADN'T! I'm so thrilled!

I'm especially thrilled because I've decided to maybe give full CG another go. I want to see if I can get by with just DFCC and Suave coconut to wash with. I won't mind a low poo here and there, but we'll see how that goes....so far so good, as it's been a week with no low poo. I absolutely CANNOT wait to try SS's Cleansing conditioner!

Here's some pics...

Wow, look how smooth and shiny! Even blow dried straight for me, my hairs seems to repel each other. Well, when *I* do it. Stylists can do magic and get it beautifully smooth and straight.

Pretty! I was thinking of trying something similar tomorrow. My hair has been so darn shiny since I started mod CGing last weekend that I thought it might be nice to attempt a more smooth wave.

I HATE round brushing. My hair just gets tangled in the bristles. My fingers and the blow dryer alone used to do a pretty decent job, but that was with 'cones and flat ironing. We'll see how it goes without either... I am going to put some conditioner on my hair tonight before bed to give it a boost before co-washing tomorrow.

I guess as much as I would love to have big loopy spiral curls, I am still happy I have the versatility that a loose wave gives me. :)

    Why thank you! :D

As for round brushing, don't start in with the round brush until you are 80-90% dry. By using the rake attatchment on my dryer that helps my wave to relax a bit, then I go in with the round brush and clip my hair up in sections like I would if I flat ironed. It's easier to handle that way and I'm glad I can get it to look this way without the flat iron!

I can not get over how SHINY your hair is!!! It's like a hair commercial! It looks so healthy!

Funny you should mention SS Cleansing Condish, I've been thinking about that because I want to buy it as soon as it comes out but will be on vacation starting 8/1, I'm so afraid it will sell fast and I'll miss out and have to wait.

    Any info on release date?

Rymorg, I meant to tell you that when I wanna straighten, I use SLIP detangler from CHS. Whatever it is in that product is like kryptonite for my curls. It really smooths it out nicely! So you might wanna give it a try and see if it helps. No silicones and feels super soft.

Well, my hair is the opposite of straight today. :) Woke up a little late, so I wet it, gelled, scrunched, clipped and diffused. I have more curl than ever!

I think I discovered that A) my hair doesn't like plunking, B) I need stronger gel (the LAL MMH isn't getting stiff enough), and C) my hair REALLY likes aloe vera gel! I rubbed it through my mid-shaft and ends last night before bed and my hair is very happy today.

I love you hair straight, Rymorg. Personally I think that is one of the perks of being wavy is being able to wear our hair straight. Many of us can make out hair straight without causing much damage. So, why not take advantage of our versatility?

    Amen sista!

I can wear my hair straight simply by letting it air dry after combing it straight. I don't have any crown lift, but seriously its easy to straighten. It still has a flip to it here and there, but hey, seriously it can't be much more damage than I do to it while I'm diffusing it. Which I refuse to stop doing completely.

OMG ROFLMBO! I'll have to get it for that purpose then, since I was considering trying it as a detangler anyway! At least I know that it wouldn't work for my wurls now!

My hair doesn't like plunking either. When I first started I needed uber amounts of hold, but not so much now! :D And my hair LOVES anything Aloe too! Glad it worked for you!

Hi Pedaheh! Thanks! Yep, that's one of the perks of being a wavy for sure, and that helps in my job because I have to have versatility. I love though that I can do it without the flat iron like I used to think I had to have....I'll stick with my round brush!
