I was so excited about the idea of a book swap board, but as soon as we got it up and I picked out all the books I had to go, friends and family started claiming them. I'm planning to do another big clean out this weekened.

Have any of you done any book swapping here? How does it work...would the person being sent the books cover shipping? I have several books to get rid of and I would not even necessarily need a swap in return, just someone to cover postage because there are so many.

Also, if you've checked out the www.bookcrossing.com site, does this count as "releasing?"

Hope this board starts to see some traffic soon!

CGNYC, what books do you have?

I like thrillers and law/forensic/true crime stuff...

    So, whatcha got? icon_biggrin.gif

Ok, if you have anything to swap, we'll talk. If not, just let me know and I'll ship whatever you want out to you. I have no idea how swapping works or who pays for shipping...I assume if we don't actually SWAP, if I just send something, I send it postage due?

Also, I think I can put the BookCrossing lable in them, so please log them and pass them on or "release" them, ok?

Watermelon - Marian Keyes - swapped
The White Hotel - D.M. Thomas
Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
Bookends - Jane Green - swapped
Le Divorce - Diane Johnson - swapped
Valley of the Dolls - Jacqueline Susann - swapped
Straight Talking - Jane Green - swapped
    Ralph's Party - Lisa Jewell - swapped
    Jane Eyre - Bronte
    Open House - Elizabeth Berg
Lady of Hay - Barbara Eriskine
Sushi for Beginners - Marian Keyes - swapped
Last Chance Saloon - Marian Keyes - swapped
    Exodus - Leon Uris
Snow Falling on Cedars - David Guterson
The God of Small Things _ Arundhati Roy
The Weight of Water - Anita Shreve - swapped
    Alias Grace - Margaret Atwood
Here on Earth - Alice Hoffman (hardback)- swapped
    Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier
A Series of Unfortunate Events - The Bad Begining - Lemony Snicket (hardback)
The Virgin Suicides - Jeffrey Eugenides
The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing - Melissa Bank
    Girl, Interrupted - Kaysen
Hideous Kinky - Esther Freud - swapped
Mr. White's Confession - Robert Clark - swapped
Jody Shields - Fig Eater - swapped
She Felw the Coop - Michael Lee West - swapped
Backpacker - Emily Barr - swapped
Lady of the Glen - Jennifer Roberson
Lady of the Forest and Lady of Sherwood - Jenifer Roberson
Wifey/Smart Women - Judy Blume (not for kids) - swapped
A Room With A View - EM Forster (hardback, from the B&N collection)
Tess of the D'Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy - (hardback from the B&N series)
The Way I found her - Rose Tremain

All are paperbacks unless otherwise noted. Most are the size above paperback (trade sizes, I think they're called) and in pretty darn good condition.

All of the "lady of" books came from Diana Gabaldon's list of what to read while you're waiting for the next Outlander. Personally, I didn't even finish any of them. Yawn. But someone else might love them.

Again, please pass them on and post here if you have any questions. I frequently forget to check my PMs.

    Hi CurlyGurlyNYC,

I'd be interested in swapping for the Elizabeth Berg and Rose Tremain books...

Here are some that I could swap:

    Pink Slip, Rita Ciresi
    Polly, Freya North
    Chloe, Freya North
Behind the Scenes at the Museum, Kate Atkinson
    Use Me, Elissa Schappell
    Cocktails for Three, Madeline Wickham
    Corelli's Mandolin, Louis De Bernieres

Let me know if anything strikes you as interesting & I'll look into bookcrossing.com icon_smile.gif

CMoon, Use Me and Pink Slip look great if you still have them.

It will be sometime next week before I can get anything in the mail. My mother is visiting and she's got all my time tied up (seriously, she's got my husband on an errand right now which is how I got two minutes with the computer). We can finalize then, if you'd like.

    Hey,

I do still have them, and will hold on to them for you. When all of the action quiets down for you, post here or send me an e-mail and we can finalize everything. I'll try to get them onto the Bookcrossing site as well...
