Edgar Sawtelle -- I can't get into it yet.

I know that Oprah raved about Edgar Sawtelle, and that it got a ton of positive press. I feel like I should love it, with all of that whoop-de-doo behind it. I'm about 100 pages into the book (which has 550+ pages) and it hasn't pulled me in yet. If you've read it, should I stick with it? Does it get better? Or should I already be in love with the book by now?

:tongue10: crack me up! I need to let go of the guilt I'm feeling in wanting to ditch this book and just move on to my next one....

There's this famous librarian (the one they modelled the doll or action figure on) who says that life is too short to waste on lousy books. If she's not grabbed pretty fast, she says, it's "onward and upward."

I agree. Now I just have to apply that theory to all Ann Beattie books. But not Barbara Pym (who gets weirder as you get further in).

I loved that book. Hated the ending.

I also REALLY dislike Oprah and usually don't read anything she's flogging...but this was for book club and I'm really glad I read it.

I read it-also for my book club. It was just ok.
