I have Nancy Grace on right now and she's discussing it. So sad and strange...Nancy just compared the stepmom to other moms who "get rid" of kids because they're standing in the way of other things they want.

I pray for that little boy :(

Yes, I've been following it. What a strange twist of events. I wish they would find him but it doesn't sound good, does it. :( Sad, sad, sad.

It's been all over the news here every day since he disappeared. Since Portland's only 3 hours away, I guess there was a thought he could turn up here. It's just so sad. :(

The stepmother has retained a well-known defense attorney and Kiron's mom pleaded with her on video to cooperate with the investigation. Here's the latest local story. There are also some related stories on the sidebar.

I'm hoping it wasn't really her. (A leap, I know.) After what happened to that friend of Bounce's, I no longer automatically believe it when they go after one of the parents in these cases. That story was just on tv again a couple weeks ago...

    Very very true

    That poor little guy.

And with the idea that she "got rid of him" because he was in her way...she also has two other kids, though.

They worded that questionaire to focus exculsively on the stepmother. I think that may be prejudicial and cause them problems in court. It's like they are so focused on her they are not even looking anywhere else. Just saw a Boston Legal yesterday that dealt with the exact same issue. At the end we never did know if the boys really killed their father or not, but they got off.

They said on the news today that she lied to the cops about her whereabouts that day. Her cell phone showed she was somewhere other than where she said she was. It really doesn't look good for her.

    Link to story.

And today it came out that a few months ago, she tried to hire a landscaper to kill her husband. He learned about the plot from investigators, which is why he filed for divorce so quickly.

I just read this today. I'll bet the landscaper was more than a landscaper. In Florida, we call them pool boys. :)

Lord, what an awful story. I pray the boy's OK.

Here's a vid on the story. At about 1:00, there are pics of what the stepmom looked like back in 2005, like a different person:

This poor baby :( They keep referencing how bad his eyesight is, too...I wonder if his glasses were taken from him and he really couldn't even see what was going on. I'm really praying for a miracle that he's okay. It's so, so sad.

I don't think it looks good for the stepmom now either. That said, the media spins these stories (Nancy Grace especially) to what they want us to believe, whether right or wrong. After Bounce's friend and the Jon Benet Ramsey case, I realize just how swayed the media can be on all our minds. I try not to form an opinion until all the facts are in.

The dad was the prime suspect and arrested for her murder, but then he was cleared.

So, so sad. How can ANYBODY hurt a little child?

Oh yeah! I recall that story now. I didn't know (or totally forgot) a boardie here knew the family.

I was thinking about Kyron this morning. Do any Pacific NW curlies have any recent news about this missing child? The case seems to have reached a dead end. :(

I feel this way too. Not saying the stepmother may not be guilty, but too often we are so swayed by these talk shows into believing their ideas of what happened. The media had me so believing that (wow I can't even remember her name) the little pageant girl who was killed in Colorado years ago on Christmas was killed by her mother. As the years went on, I came to believe we were all duped into believing that story and they never looked for the real killer. For that reason I can't even watch Nancy Grace anymore.

You are thinking of JonBenet Ramsey. :( Can you believe that was in 1996?

Can't believe I couldn't come up with her name. My gosh, she would be 20 now!

That was a case of the media wanting us to think one way and sucked us all in. I now believe the parents had nothing to do with it. . . though I imagine Nancy Grace thinks otherwise. (Can you tell I'm not a Nancy Grace fan.)

I tuned out Nancy Grace after she had her lawyers try to disallow cameras in her deposition concerning Melinda Duckett. Said she didn't want to be embarrassed.

She's all for putting cameras in other people's faces but didn't want it to happen to her.

I haven't heard anything new in the past couple weeks. Unfortunately, I am leaning toward the stepmother knowing something. That story on Dateline really swayed me.

I heard a local business donated money to have cameras installed at Kyron's elementary school so parents feel better about taking their kids to school this fall. How awful that kids can't even feel safe in school. :(

Thanks. It's disturbing that the case seems to have just fizzled. Hopefully law enforcement has information they haven't shared with the public and are building a case.

I almost cried when I heard on the news that his father has his school backpack all ready for him and even signed him up for soccer. He wants his son back so much that it hurts.
    What a WONDERFUL day!!

Pac NW curlies, any news from up in your area? Little Kyron has been missing for a year this week. :(

Nothing. :( Every now and then they'll say they're searching an area again but they never find anything. They're still looking at the stepmother.

Thanks, MrsP. It's so sad! I've looked at maps of that area and it seems an almost impossible task to find that little boy. :(

That step mom is some cold hearted person to leave those people in so much pain.
