New here...maybe 3a?

Hi all my curly sisters! :colors:
I am new to this forum and to the CG method as well (haven't even started CG yet).

I've always had a "wave" to my hair and even a bit of a curl in my photos from my early early toddler years. At some point between 6 and 8 years old my hair became really thick (or maybe the thickness just started taking over my head at that point:tongue5:). During puberty my hair took on a much more apparent curl that I fought with brush, straightening iron, and hair spray. I never won the fight, but I sure tried :angry7:. In my later teen years, I finally began to let the curl win. I threw out my brush and started my trek to find a product that would tame the craziness that is my hair.

Now at 23, I've been using the same basic method of hair care for the last 4ish years.
Shampoo, heavily condition with Pantene ProV (or the occasional Tresemme) (finger comb before rinsing thoroughly), squeeze out excess water with hand in shower then with a towel, finger comb hair serum (Zero Frizz or John Freida Frizzease) through all of hair, and let air dry.

While I think my hair looks pretty good most days, I could definitely use some lift and definition..not to mention some more healthy products.
I'm not sure exactly what my hairtype is, but I'm thinking it's 3a.:dontknow: How do I learn about posterity etc that I see on everyone's signatures?

I'm having a hard time finding all the info I need to begin using CG. I understand that I need to get a conditioner that is -cone free. Any recommendations? Any tips would be appreciated....I want to do this right the first time.

Hey, Smartietart! Welcome from another newbie! I've lurked here (more like stalked) :) for a couple weeks. For inspiration, check out this thread that has before & after pics of people who did the 'curly girl' thing. Just scroll to find the ones with pics. :) This website is fabulous. It has all the information you need.

    Other useful sites:
http://healthycurls.awardspace.com/ (Has ton of info & list of Curly-Girl 'CG' products, from drugstore to salon brands)

    http://www.livecurlylivefree.com/ (Really good site also.)

The product line I'm using is DevaCare (The have a DevaCurl one, but the one I use is for colored hair & I don't like how the other one smells anyway). You can get it at Ulta or online. The lady who did these products literally wrote the book on caring for curly hair. She has some good videos:

    Hope this helps.
