Do any of you ladies use chemical peels on your face? WHat were your results and how often do you use them?

I've had it done a couple of times in my derm's office. My skin looked fresher and the color was pinker. I had been looking sallow and uneven color due to not being well for a long time. I'm very happy with the results.

I don't know about anything you would buy yourself. If you do it yourself, be cautious - you don't want to burn your skin. The first time only leave it on for a short while and see how it looks. Good luck.

I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

If you plan on doing light peels yourself, I suggest you do a LOT of research, from many sources, before you make any attempts. If you go to a salon or spa, the esthetician can advise you on what she feels would work for you. I like the results from a light peel, but I've burned myself, more than once, doing it myself, and I've kinda sworn off acids...for now anyway.

I have had several chemical peels. I love the results. I don't have them that often, I can't put an exact time on it, but lets say once a year. That does not mean the results last that long, by any means. It's not something I would try myself. To be honest I didn't realize that there were products for you to use at home.

    -love them
-too broke right now to afford them
-make sure yo don't have sun damage (tan or darkening, and that goes for dark skins too)
    currently using:
    Organix nourishing coconut milk shampoo
Suave tropical coconut conditioner (for wash out)

for leave in conditioner a mixture of: Organix coconut milk conditioner & Herbal Essences hydralicious reconditioning conditioner

Like others have mentioned, make sure you do a lot of research if you're going to try one at home. Get a peel professionally done at least once beforehand so you know what to expect from the peel itself and how your skin will look/feel as it heals in the days that follow.

I got a series of peels from my derm this past spring. They improved my skin texture, and evened out my coloring. I've been really satisfied with them, so I definitely recommend it!

I haven't done one yet, but I'm waiting for my lactic acid peel to arrive from MUAC. I've never had one done professionally, but I've heard good things from NC members who have used this particular peel. I also feel comfortable doing this at home, as I have used other professional products at home with good results. But I do agree with others to do your research.

The lactic acid is supposed to be the easiest to use if you're not a professional. I'm using it to even my complexion; I have some hormonal hyperpigmentation and a few old acne scars. I'll let you know how it goes.

Mine just came in today. I haven't tried it because I need to read the directions. I'm guessing once a week is how often you'd use it?

Can you please post a link the particular MUAC peel you are referring to?

I recently sampled and bought f/s of Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel pads. I love how gentle yet effective they are for my skin. I am using them once per week, in addition to manual exfo once per week. I used a round of these pads yesterday morning and thought to myself that my skin looked nice and clear and smooth yesterday -- and then I remembered that I did the peel yesterday morning (while half asleep). So for me these work well for now, but I would still be interested in checking out the MUAC option, especially if it comes in a weaker formula.

Yeah, once or twice a week is good, although I use it very sporadically, which prevents me from getting the greatest benefit. I just need to be a better remember-er. :)

Thanks for posting the link. Wow, 40% of anything sounds like a lot. I am going to read up on those peels. Maybe after the Dr. Dennis Gross ones get my skin used to doing light peels, I can move up.

I don't really get peeling from the peel pads, which I am sort of glad about because when my skin gets too flakey, it looks bad even with makeup.

I use acids. I bought them from garden of wisdom, recieved very clear instructions on how to use it, and I am very very careful.

My skin tone is starting to even and my pores are starting to clear up.

The lactic acid doesn't cause flaking, at least for me. It's supposed to be the gentlest of the chemical peels and alpha hydroxy acids that you can use because it's similar to something that human bodies produce. I have really sensitive skin, and I've used this twice in one week. So far, I don't have any red spots, hives or additional breakouts. But I can also use salicylic acid without a problem. However, most store products and even Proactiv, cause my skin to become red, irritated, break out and sometimes flake.

VT Mom - Thanks for answering my question! I'm using it twice a week. I took a starting picture so that I can mark my progress.
