Does honey do anything weird to gray hair?

SaraiSarai Posts: 42Registered Users
I've seen numerous comments about it lightening hair, so I'm wondering if it's safe for my salt-and-pepper curls...

If you use honey, do you wash it out or leave it in? (I thought of adding it to a curl cream, since I prefer one-step styling.)

thanks! :)

Honey has never done anything weird to my grey hair. I usually mix it with water and use it as a rinse right before I add my gel.

Hi saw the thread and thought I would check with you to see if the honey is still doing ok with your silvery hair? I love my silver hair but would like to use the honey rinse on it but was wary of it yellowing my hair. Btw your silver tresses look lovely :tongue8: anneh

Honey is still working fine for me with no yellowing as far as I can tell (I do get yellowing from sun, wind, and smokey bars in the summer tho).

interesting thread. i just started using cj deep fix, which contains honey, love it, and noticed that after i rinse my hair, hair still wet, it seems darker. almost as tho i've become very pepper, hardly salt. i wondered if it was the honey. that has never happened with any other products. so far, i've not noticed any difference when it dries, no yellowing, looks great. does honey have any effect on hair color?

    3a, some 2c & 3b, medium texture, porosity normal, low elasticity :-(
