Does aloe vera contain protein?

There has been some discussion on another thread about whether aloe vera contains protein.

I did a bit of research and found some information that indicates aloe vera has a high content of collagen protein. I also found this site that says...
Aloe vera contains protein, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins A, B12 and E, essential fatty acids and is naturally rich in:

Vitamin C which helps maintain tone of blood vessels and promotes good circulation and is essential to the health of the adrenal gland which supports our body in times of stress.

Amino acids which are chains of atoms constructing protein in our body.

Enzymes, which are the life-principle in every live, organic atom and molecule of natural raw food, rejuvenate aged tissues and promote healthy skin.

Germanium which is a mineral that some health authorities claim therapeutic benefits for: immunodeficiency, pain, cardiac disorders, circulatory disturbances and eye problems.
I know some plant extracts can contain protein but I wonder if there is enough protein in aloe vera to affect those who are protein sensitive? I'm not and don't have an adverse hair reaction when I use aloe but I've seen other threads where curlies report having a reaction similar to that of a protein-sensitive curly.

Does anyone out there have any thoughts/knowledge about this?

    I just asked this same question on the protein sensitive board... I want to try Aloe Vera... but not if it is not for the protein sensitive!

    Pretty much all plant matter contains some protein or amino acids, unless you are using the oil of the plant. Aloe vera (the plant) does contain many amino acids.

    I have issues with many proteins, wheat being the worst, but I do well with aloe.

    I have wondered if the flash drying that some get with aloe is due to the amino acids.

    They aren't strong proteins, so aloe is often found in ingredients that are considered to be protein free. But, for those who can't take large doses of protein, it doesn't hurt to track how aloe works for them. It's very much YMMV; what works for one won't always work for another.

    Some notice the same thing with hops.

    Wheat or Silk protein are the worst for me. Actually, I can use it one time and my hair will look great... can't use it 2 times in a row.. all hell breaks lose.


    But I do pretty well with HOPS, since right now I am addicted to Devacurl One Conditioner....... So far it's the best conditioner I have ever used on my hair. Going to use it till my hair rejects it, which I hope is not soon!

    I'm going to try and add a little FOTE AVG to the homemade FSG I have been making and see how it does..

    This is a very interesting question!
    I actually just recently tried AV in my hair [on friday], and it worked wonderfully.
    I am protein sensitive.
    I used Aubrey organic's Aloe vera juice, put suave conditioner in my hand and drizzled a little of the juice, rubbed and worked it into my hair.

    I then put SMU gel..
    My hair , during the drying process, looked a little frizzy but once it was completely dry, my oh my! My curls were gorgeous. They looked not only defined but actually very healthy. =]It did seem to take away the wild volume I usually go for, but for the gorgeous healthy looking curls I got..doesn't seem to big of a drawback.

    Point is, i didn't have dry straw-like feeling hair that I would usually have if using a protein product.

    I really don't do well with proteins however, my hair does great with homemade FSG. So the amount of protein in the FOTE aloe vera gel isn't enough to cause problems.

    My hair hates wheat and soy protein. Collagen and silk proteins are okay though. I use AV almost every day with no problems. My hair loves it!

    I am glad to have found this post, I didn't know the FOTE AV gel had protein in it . . I have a terrible time every time I use anything with wheat or silk protein. Hopefully this'll be different when I use it.

    You would think that with all the protein sensitive curlies out there that companies would have started to make protein-free products
