Trying to go CG: please review my products!

Hi all,

I have slowly begun the process of going CG. I'm still waiting on the book from the library, so thus far I've been trying to garner as much information as possible online. So I need your help.

Everything looks CG friendly to me. My other advice would be to make sure you scrub your scalp very well when you co-wash with your fingers (not nails). Also apply your products to very wet hair, which will minimize frizz. When you dry your hair, scrunch, don't rub, with the towel. And when it's drying, DO NOT touch it! Good luck! :D

the Kiss My Face gel is great, but if you want to try a cheaper alternative you might like the Herbal Essences Body Envy. They both perform similarly on me, with the HE gel being a bit better, I think.

Really? So this ingredient in the Kiss My Face conditioner is ok: Behentrimonium Methosulfate (Colza Oil)? I was afraid it was a not-allowed sulfate.

Thanks for the recommendation, Brio. I really like the Kiss My Face products because the more natural-ish ingredients keep my forehead from breaking out. How is the HE Body Envy gel against your skin?

I don't have any problem with the HE gel, but if I recall correctly, someone else posted that laureth-23 was a common irritant and that ingredient is pretty high on the list in this gel. The poster went on to say her back was irritated (or maybe broken out).

The Kiss My Face gel is really good. Love the smell, too.

The behentrimonium methosulfate is ok as far as I know. I think the sulfates to watch out for are the kind in shampoos, such as sodium lauryl sulfate.

This ingredient is a detangler not a cleanser, so it is actually good for your hair. All these ingredients get pretty confusing, don't they?

All of those look good to me, but the conditioner has a lot of protein, so you might want to watch out. If your hair gets brittle and dry after a while, you might have protien build up.

That's a great selection of products to give CG a trial run. I think you'll be fine with the condnr; the protein's pretty far down the list.

Do they ever! I'm really crazy and knowledgeable about the ingredients in food (and have lost 60 lbs, as a result!). Now I just need to do the same with hair products!

    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the heads-up! I will keep an eye out for protein issues. Thanks.
