black heads on nose

DoodlesDoodles Posts: 1,984Registered Users
I've had black heads on my nose ever since I can remember, although I'm sure they made their first appearance around puberty. I've used the Biore nose strips which are satisfying to use but I don't think they've made that much of an impact. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of these?

The only thing that's made any difference for me with my blackheads and huge pores is to OCM. From time to time, you can actually feel the oil plugs coming out of your skin.

I do the oil cleansing method(OCM) as well. I also have a blackhead extractor I got from Walgreens.

is the oil cleansing method where you use extra virgin olive oil and castor oil to clean your face?

Yes, but I use Jojoba oil instead of EVOO.

    Sorry! I just got back!

OCM could give you clogged pores, but I personally think it depends on what oil you use. EVOO and castor work well for me. I tried castor with coconut oil and my pores got SO CLOGGED! I also tried castor and jojoba oil. It worked okay, but the EVOO works better for me. I want to try some sweet almond oil next.

It works very well. I love how it softens my face and reduces the fine lines.

This may be a bit more than some would like to spend, but ever since I purchased the Clarisonic facial brush, my skin has never looked better. It seems to get all the gunk trapped in the pours out. Definitely my stubborn blackheads have disappeared and the pours are much cleaner now.

I have a Clarisonic brush too...awesome machine. I highly recommend it for anyone suffering from congested pores, but it is a bit expensive.

How much is it? Also, is plain EVOO fine or do you have to use castor oil too.

Plain EVOO is fine, but you have to just try different oils and see what works best. I find that the castor is a little more cleansing, and my skin needs that.

OCM didn't work so well for me, but adding a little green tea oil to the mix did help a lot.

I've been wanting one of those clarisonics! It figures that the 2 women whose skin routines I've been stalking have them!

OCM was a really bad move for me, I started breaking out and getting blackheads in places I don't normally get them. :?

I have found that the biore poor strips do absolutely nothing for me as well. So, how much is this clarisonic brush? I have the worst time with blackheads. Right now I just started Black soap from www.nasabb.com so far it hasn't agravated, but its been 2 days. I also may be trying OCM soon. ~~jax

I googled the brush. It seems to only be available as part of a starting kit that includes a charging base, two brush heads, and a bottle of face cleanser. For the low, low price of $195!

People seem to have such mixed results with the OCM. I'd be interested in trying it, but half the people who've done it have horror stories about clogged pores and massive breakouts. Any advice for doing it right (especially if you had these problems at first, but fixed them)? I don't get blackheads, and breakouts are rare. But I do have large pores that make me very self-conscious.

They're about $200, but you can find deals occasionally on the internet for $175ish. It's an excellent product...very high quality. It greatly helps my congested pores, but it doesn't do all the work. I still have to use salicylic acid to loosen things up.

I saw some of the clarisonic brushes on ebay for $99.

When I started OCM, I did have some breakouts that I didn't have before. I guess it was that purging process. However, from all that I've read, if you don't normally have a problem with breakouts, then you won't have some huge breakout problem. My breakout was minor. I think I had 2 or 3 zits that were big and red and inflamed. I don't usually get zits at all...just blackheads and some whiteheads. I do think you have to go through that purging process, though, and spend time getting to know what oils your skin likes, just like CG and getting to know what products and conditioners your hair likes.

I think it depends on the kind of oil to, I know coconut can clog pores.

.. and I've been using this as a moisturizer at night! The doctor told me to use cetaphil, but it has petrolatum in it and doesn't it clog pores? Cetaphil also hurts more after using my acne medication.

Not sure about the petrolatum. Try using sweet almond oil or jojoba oil for moisturizing. I like both. Curlmart has HoboCare jojoba oil that I've been using and I LOVE for all kinds of things!

Darn.. I can't find either at my local health food store and I can't purchase online. Could sweet almond/jojoba can be found at a grocery store's organic section or oil section?

The idea of putting oil on my face doesn't sit very well with me. Especially with these pregnancy hormones already causing breakouts. That Clarisonic brush looks interesting though. To bad it's so expensive!

You should be able to find sweet almond oil at your local pharmacy, at the very least. Try CVS, Walgreens, something like that.

Petrolatum does not clog pores. The molecules are too large. Unscented Lubriderm and Cetaphil both make good light facial moisturizers.
